The doctors at USC Arcadia were absolutely awful
My mom was admitted here last year for 5 days. More recently, she was admitted at City of Hope in Duarte for 4 days. To be fair, the nurses at both locations were excellent: attentive and compassionate. However, the doctors at USC Arcadia were absolutely awful. They'd stop by for 5 minutes each day, and I had to drag crucial information out of them regarding my mom's condition and treatment. Poor communication! The rest of the day, they were unreachable. The infectious diseases specialist said that my mom had pneumonia and began treating her for pneumonia on day 2, but by the time that my mom was discharged (day 5), she said that she had been wrong and that my mom never had pneumonia. Unbelievable. (On day 3, I'd actually questioned her on her diagnosis because my mom showed no symptoms of pneumonia, and she got upset.) I just assumed that all hospital doctors would be like this, so when my mom was admitted to City of Hope last week, I expected more of the same. It was only when I encountered the professional and courteous doctors at City of Hope that I realized just how bad and incompetent the doctors at USC Arcadia had been.

I strongly urge for this matter to be reviewed
I want to express my concern regarding what happened today. I had to send one of my residents to the hospital due to abnormal lab work that placed her in a critical state. Transportation was arranged, and as a courtesy, a call was made to the ER ahead of time. To my shock, the nurse on the line stated we should send the patient elsewhere because they were “only taking critical patients at that time.” What made my resident less critical? A blood pressure in the 190s was dismissed as non-critical. That is not only unacceptable, it is alarming. To overlook a condition that places someone at severe risk of stroke or other life-threatening events is beyond comprehension. Denying care in such a situation is not just irresponsible it is outrageous. This decision compromised the well-being of my resident and placed unnecessary barriers in accessing emergency care.

This particular “hospital” is particularly bad
It definitely doesn’t deserve the USC title it falls under. I was sent here for extreme uterine pain during a mental health stay at another facility. Once they realized the problem was emergent enough, they discontinued all care and communication. I had one outstanding ER nurse, Zach, that unfortunately left an hour or so after I arrived. I arrived around 8:30. They finished “treating” me around one. I was not picked back up for transport back to my facility until 6:30. I was sobbing. I felt ignored, abandoned, inconsequential, and uncared for. Not once did they ask how I was doing after 1am. No offers of comfort or reassurance. As a side note, the halls leading to different parts of this place smelled like the pages of a book from the 70s. The nurses and doctors were all very excited for their pizza party and talking about the weather in the different places they went to school. Chatted about getting volunteers to use pediatric simulator equipment. Sounds like things you would talk about on your break and not while patients are actively awaiting care or communication. I left absolutely heartbroken. Never ever go here.

Avoid this ER at all costs
If I could give this hospital .5 stars I would. I’ve been coming here for many years now and it’s progressively gotten worse, specifically the ER department. On more than several occasions they’re understaffed and as a result, staff is extremely desensitized to sick people. I had check in staff roll their eyes at me wincing and wailing in pain at my last visit, I was there with abdomen pain that ultimately led to me needing my gallbladder removed. Last visit was March 2025 and will be my last visit there ever. If you can I strongly recommend a neighboring hospital.

The delayed treatment is absolutely is unacceptable!
My family member was admitted due to concerning symptoms. The doctors ran all sorts of test and some tests results are still NOT available after 6 days! The patient is feeling worse everyday and has NOT received any treatment. The hospital’s reason is because they are still waiting for test results! Absolutely NOT acceptable!

Dear USC Arcadia Hospital President
Your Hospital is a real life sunken place! On Thursday, May 2nd, my mother, Sarah Graham, was rushed to your hospital via ambulance due to shortness of breath. She is a stage 4 pancreatic cancer patient, diagnosed in 2019. While we understand her terminal condition, she deserves proper care, not starvation and neglect. Most people would rush to sue and we should be able to because of that medication dosage admission, but we are unable to do so due to the arbitration agreement we signed. We need answers, changes, and improved care for my mother during her visits to your hospital. We were aggressively pushed towards hospice care, which felt akin to euthanasia, especially when crucial care like an MRI, scheduled by her oncologist before admission, was denied by Dr. Cortez. He stated that nothing would be done with the findings and that my mother only had days, maybe weeks, to live. This is not his call to make; her time on this earth is up to God, not him. His remark was offensive and beyond reproach. On Tuesday, May 7th, we decided as a family to bring my mother home from the hospital. There have been numerous missteps in my mother's care, and as her daughter and advocate, I will tirelessly fight for her. I am writing this letter not just for apologies but for real change. I work for a news agency and intend to publish this letter to inform the community of what could happen at your hospital.

Charges us $350 to have us sit in an exam room with a sick baby for almost 5 hrs
The worst hospital experience ever. We came in at 3AM and left at 7:30PM because our infant was having terrible shakes and high fever. We were initially told to wait outside but we asked not to because there was drunk passed out in the waiting area. Good thing we stayed behind because we overheard that the lvn never ran the tests for our infant. He was complaining the entire time and clearly the shift was now turning over to the daytime staff. The lvn he was clearly just waiting to turn over his shift and burning time on the clock. We left with no results of why my child was sick and she still had a fever of 99. Charges us $350 to have us sit in an exam room with a sick baby for almost 5 hrs. Literally came here because we live close by but read all the negative reviews they’re all true.

Waited in ER for 16 hours and a day and a half for surgery
Place is horrible. Waited in ER for 16 hours (note, stay in the ER personnel or they will forget about you as they did me). Finally got admitted, doctor specifically said will get your procedure early the next morning. The next morning came, the nurse tells me they don't know when my procedure is going to happen. Finally got a time at 3:40pm....then another comes in and tells me my procedure isn't until 5:45pm. Like dude this isn't a complicated procedure. Should've read the reviews before picking this place. At least the nurses were pretty nice...but yeah the doctors for full of it and don't believe any timetables anyone gives you of getting anything done.

A disgrace to San Gabriel Valley
More than 12 hours in the ER with my 87 year old aunt who came in for severe back pain. No concern for comfort or care. Just “I’m sorry “.
