Content Guidelines

General Guidelines

People come to Rate A Hospital to connect with great hospitals and share hospital care experiences. We know that people won’t always agree, but we expect everyone on the site to treat one another and the platform with honesty and respect. We’ve put together these general guidelines to help set the tone for discourse on the site - just in case. Please also read the additional guidelines below for specific types of content that you might contribute to the site.

Relevance: Please make sure your contributions are appropriate to the forum. For example, reviews aren’t the place for rants about political ideologies, a hospital’s employment practices, extraordinary circumstances, or other matters that don’t address the core of the patient care experience.

Inappropriate content: Colorful language and imagery are fine, but there’s no place for threats, harassment, lewdness, hate speech, or other displays of bigotry.

Conflicts of interest: Your contributions to Rate A Hospital should be unbiased and objective. For example, you shouldn’t write reviews of your own hospital or employer, your peers or competitors in your industry, or businesses in your networking group. Hospitals should never ask patients to write reviews. Posting advertisements or solicitations of a Healthcare Provider is prohibited.

Privacy: Don’t publicize people’s private information. For instance, please don’t post close-up photos or videos of other people without their permission, and don’t post other people’s full names unless you’re referring to someone who is commonly referred to by their full name.

Promotional content: Don’t post promotional material unless it’s in connection with a Rate A Hospital advertising product and through a Business Account. Let’s keep the site useful for consumers and not overrun with commercial noise from every user.

Intellectual property: Don’t swipe content from other sites, users, or businesses. You’re a smart cookie, so write your own copy and share your own photos and videos. Posting material that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others is prohibited.

Software disruption: You agree that you will not upload any material that contains software viruses or any other harmful computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or the Service.


Review Guidelines

The best reviews and ratings can connect others with great hospitals by sharing care experiences and will be based upon:

(i)              your actual first-hand experiences with the Hospitals you are reviewing or;

(ii)             as provided below, an individual and that individual’s actual first-hand experience with a Hospital whereby you have the legal authority to disclose such health information and experience of such individual;

(iii)           accurate, honest, truthful, and complete in all respects


Photo and Video Guidelines

By uploading any media on the Service, you warrant that you have permission from all persons appearing in your media for you to make this contribution and grant rights described herein. Never post a picture or video of or with someone else unless you have their explicit permission.

(i)              It is strictly prohibited to upload media of any kind that contain expressions of hate, abuse, offensive images or conduct, obscenity, pornography, sexually explicit or any material that could give rise to any civil or criminal liability under applicable law or regulations or that otherwise may be in conflict with the Terms or the Privacy Policy.

(ii)             You agree to only post or upload media (like photos, videos, or audio) on the Service that you have taken yourself or that you have all rights to transmit and license and which do not violate trademark, copyright, privacy, or any other rights of any other person. Photos or videos taken by others are usually copyrighted by the owners. 

Community Guidelines

Others want to read reviews that they can trust (not those that are empty or laced with inappropriate content). Please don’t use the Service to harass other users or send other inappropriate content, and remember, consumer accounts are for personal, non-commercial use only.

Your Hospital can join the community and start telling your story your way:

(i)              Get notified when there is a review

(ii)             Respond to reviews

(iii)           Update your hospital info

(iv)           Add photos

(v)             Send us information about your business

(vi)           Showcase your business to healthcare consumers


Claiming your hospital page

If you need to claim a Rate A Hospital Page, please submit your contact information below, including your business email address or another email address that we can verify is affiliated with your business and create a Business Account. Claim Hospital Profile.
