DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY REASON
Terrible experience. Nurses don’t care or even communicate with each other. Was left alone and had to crawl back to my bed.

Billed a week in advance of the surgery
I have not had surgery yet, but I have been billed a week in advance with multiple text messages, email messages and phone calls. This is absolutely crazy, especially since I always pay my bills and have no overdue debt with the hospital. After multiple phone calls, we keep getting a runaround with the billing department!

My next step is legal advice
My father was sent to Corewell Blodgett on 4/28/25 from Corewell west pavilion. Finally after a day of running tests, we were told my father had to be transferred by ambulance to Corwell Butterworth because Blodgett did not have an oxygen chamber they felt my dad required. Blodgett never got my dad in the oxygen chamber in the required time he needed the oxygen therapy. He was not on oxygen or a heart monitor. I asked if I could transport my father and was told no, he had to go by ambulance. I explained my parents had Life EMS insurance but it would not be covered as a transfer unless it was an emergency. I was assured by an ER employee there would be no charge since they were transferring my dad from one hospital to the other. My dad sat in a room for a few hours before ever being transferred and I was told it could be midnight before they transferred him. They couldn’t give me a time frame. Now my mom is sitting with a large ambulance bill. Life told me I could have transferred my dad since he wasn’t on oxygen or a heart monitor. They also said Blodgett tells patients there is no charge when there is. I have been trying to get this resolved with patient relations with no success. If you are told by Blodgett there is no charge, 1. It’s false information 2. Get it in writing, 3. Transfer your loved one yourself. Blodgett will deny what they tell you.

Anyone who goes here (or doesnt go here) should check their billing
I received a bill from Corewell Health Grand Rapids for an ER visit from 9/19 - 9/20. The problem is -- at that time I was traveling from Cape Cod MA to New Hampshire and I haven't ever stepped foot in Grand Rapids. The only time I've ever visited the state of Michigan was during a layover into Detroit. No idea what caliber of employee works here -- but I've personally never come across such rampant incompetency.

My family will NEVER return here
Both my mother and sister have had to stay in this hospital. The quality of care, lack of compassion, and neglect here are just beyond words. My mother had eaten only ice chips for 3 days. When she was cleared to eat, what did they give her? Ice chips! Until my sister insisted they feed her. The atmosphere is foreboding, and the night staff are doing nothing to put patients at ease.

More concerned about raking in money
Beware of this place. Staff are not on the up & up with their patients. Changed their name to hide their corruption & poor/mistreatment of patients. To them u are only a piece of meat for surgeons to butcher. I wouldn't even take my dog here. Big hospital but big isn't always better. Smaller hospitals treat patients better & are more concerned about your care then raking in money.

Two visits two bad experiences
Not a great experience. Had parainfluenza, came back after one week, was told by ER I probably should not have left so soon. Some of the respiratory staff is horrible. I am supposed to get breathing treatments every four hours, but they decided to just skip my last one. This is the same staff member who skipped me for twelve hours the last time I was here. Will never return here, and would not recommend it to anyone. Horrible place.
