A major medical error was made which caused me an additional surgery
Felt like a number and unheard. Many aspects of my care were not explained and my aftercare was poor. Listening to patients and doctors from other facilities made it clear my care was mediocre at best.

The billing department has been a nightmare
I’ve been a patient here for over eight years, not by choice but because it’s the only doctor available in Charleston. The staff is consistently rude, and dealing with the billing department has been a nightmare. I went in for what was supposed to be a preventive care visit, and they completely miscoded it. Now I’m stuck paying for their mistake, with no accountability or effort to fix it. Extremely frustrating and disappointing. If I could give this place zero stars, I would

I will avoid any MUSC facility in the future
I went to MUSC as a new patient to establish care for an annual visit. On 3/10/25 the provider told me she was going to draw annual labs to talk about at my next visit. They needed to be fasting labs so I was asked to come back any time within 2 weeks. On 3/26/25 I had what I assumed were my annual labs. I got a bill for $261.25! I called my insurance who stated the labs were not coded as preventative, otherwise they would have been covered at 100%. When I first called billing I was told the provider should have never drawn labs until my second visit. That the first appointment is just to establish care. As a new patient how was I supposed to know? I followed the providers lead.

Do yourself a favor, save yourself undue stress, and go elsewhere
When I moved to the area, I thought MUSC was the premier hospital providing quality healthcare in the area. Was I ever wrong. It is deficient on many levels, and in my case, negligent.

I am very disappointed in this hospital
My wife came for a simple biopsy and the staff here doesn't even come and talk with the family. I drove over two hours to bring my wife here because we were told this was a great hospital that a bunch of crap. This place is only interested in making money to hell with the patients and their family. I will never come back here again.

We never ever going back to this hospital
A little over 3 weeks ago my son went to the ER complaining of a swollen tongue on one side and headache. Not only was the room nasty they waited for over 7 hours to be seen by a doctor. Since he had complained of a headache you would think that they would to an MRI, CT scan something since he did complain of a headache that has been going on for a while. If you think that this was done, think again. Come find out my son had a blood clot in his neck and is now in the NICU in another hospital where he is getting the help that he needed. If an MRI or CT scan would have been done at MUSC they would have seen it and could have treated, it but instead they send him home with an EPI pan. A bottle of some kind of medication was laying on the floor and the room had so much dust you could throw a picture.

My son was rushed out upon release from ER in paper scrubs
Aren’t the nurses supposed to help the patients get dressed before being released. My son is 350 plus pounds . One deep breath and he’s naked. It was raining cats and dogs. The little nurse pushing the wheel chair could barely manage. When my son almost fell out of the wheel chair trying to get in the car, she ran back in the building for help. Good practices should have prepared her to bring a strong man or security with her to start with. By the time she returned I had my son stepping on a paper bag to get in the car. Hopefully , she will do better for the next patient.
