Please don't risk your health by going to Advent Health
Please don't go here if you care about your health! I went in, was diagnosed with osteomyelitis, lost part of my foot, but still left with the infection & ended up at a different hospital, Tampa General, where I lost more of my foot. My surgeon performed 3 surgeries, with an amputation, skin flap, & skin graft. He did not get the entire infection out & as I found out from my 2nd surgeon at another hospital, he should have had me off my foot for 2 months, but he did the skin graft surgery on a Monday & had me on my feet on Saturday. The special shoe I was given wasn't even providing relief & was rubbing on the bottom of my foot where the skin graft was, so the graft failed because of his incompetence. He also has an incredibly arrogant & horrible bedside manner. He would even blame the nurses for him not putting his wound care orders, instead of taking responsibility. It took them about 3 weeks to figure out why I was still getting such bad fevers. It turns out I'm allergic to Vancomyacin. So the infectious disease doctor just took me off the medicine, even though it was the proper treatment for the infection. The 2nd hospital also gave me Vancomyacin, but just gave me benadryl in advance to reduce my allergic reaction. The internist seemed good at first, but then it became clear he wasn't actually being listening or fighting for me as his patient. They claimed they setup things like PT, my medication, & transport to appointments through their Care360, but it was all a lie. They even tried to claim I refused the service during a phone conversation 2 days after I left, which I never did. Plus instead of them just correcting things, they dug in their heals & refused the service even though I clearly needed it. I even requested a copy of the recording of that supposed conversation, but they won't provide it (which obviously is because the conversation never took place). When being discharged I needed to be admitted to some kind of nursing facility for continued care, but they didn't help me get proper care. I fought the discharge because I knew things weren't right. I even asked to speak to the patient advocate, but I never saw a patient advocate, which is a violation of my patient rights. I even told them they were discharging me to either end up right back in the hospital or dead. I was right! I knew I was right because approximately 2 weeks later I was transported by ambulance to a different hospital. I knew I couldn't trust Advent. In the ER they examined me & took x-rays, & I was proven right. The surgeon did not get all of the infection out, so it was still spreading. They also did so many additional tests, with images & pressure tests on my legs & feet to rule out additional complications. I ended up admitted at the new hospital & my new surgeon, who has a great attitude & bedside manner, performed a 4th surgery removing more of my foot. The new infectious disease doctor had an immediate solution to give me Vancomyacin, & set me up for a nursing facility to get the Vancomyacin, wound care, PT, & the care I needed for recovery.
