I signed myself out after shoulder replacement at Novant Ortho hospital
Had shoulder replacement at Ortho hospital. Was left in horrible pain. I signed myself out on the second night at 3 am against medical advice, so I could go home and handle my own pain control per the doctors orders on the Rx bottles. After two days in hospital with incredible pain, I finally had my pain under control at home. I do not know why they don't give you meds unless you ask. Even doctors tell you to take your pain meds and stay ahead of the pain when you are discharged. If u fall asleep and wake up past the time they wear off, it is harder to get the pain under control. Then I had to wait over an hour for the nurse to come once the pain was really bad because she said she had many patients to care for and would get to me when she could. I need another joint replacement but it won't be at this hospital location. I will unfortunately have to use a different surgeon since mine only practices here. They are REALLY AWFUL AT HANDLING PAIN CONTROL!! Go home if u have an option, you are better off.
