I would never ever give birth here again
I was left alone after my C-section unmonitored and barely awake. I was left to throw up all over myself since I was still numb from my surgery and couldn't sit up myself. Thankfully my husband was finally brought to my room and was able to help clean me up. The bigger issue was the night after my surgery, I was in excruciating pain and my sweet nurse was the only one to advocate for me. After being ignored and accused of just asking for more medication, my angel of a mother demanded they look deeper. The doctors then had horrible attitudes and did the bare minimum, ignored my WBC still being elevated, and sent me on my way saying the issue was "just gas and constipation" After being discharged, I had to be rushed back to the ER with the same exact pain as I had in this hospital. Thankfully, my husband took me to Norton where the staff actually listened to me. There, while turning yellow, I was told my liver was now starting to fail due to my gallbladder having been extremely infected since my discharge from Baptist. So infected that I needed two separate procedures. I also had to have a drain in my stomach after my emergency gallbladder removal. Because Baptist had ignored my pain, I had to miss out on the first two months with my newborn daughter, could no longer breastfeed, was left in excruciating pain, and was close to suffering fatally from liver failure and septic shock, and my daughter could have been left to grow up without her mom. All because they saw a young black woman and assumed I just wanted drugs. My husband and I are now terrified of me ever giving birth again. I am sad that wonderful people like my nurse, my surgeon, and a handful of doctors here have to be looped in to reviews like this. However, the neglect I experienced here was scary and has made me scared to ever have another baby.

This level of treatment is ridiculous and downright dangerous
The nurses on floor eight tower D seem to be woefully incompetent, lazy, and downright abusive towards their patients. My grandma was transferred here from Harrison County and I will never recommend anyone to come here for any reason. The doctor specifically requested a catheter be put in after her surgery and nurses refused to do so. The doctor told us that my grandma had acute kidney failure and that “she could die from this” and offered no treatment other than to “drink water”. She was immediately put on a a diet where she could not drink water. She was given an enema for constipation, which we later found out was completely unnecessary. My grandma was unable to get out of bed by herself and had multiple accidents on the floor and the bed because nurses took upwards of 10-15 minutes to come to the room after call button was pressed. The night nurse, Onome, verbally abused my grandma for having accidents and humiliated her at a time where she was already feeling vulnerable and ashamed. Onome also removed my grandma’s oxygen without doctor approval, which caused her oxygen levels to dip dangerously low. Onome slammed things around, threw my grandma’s walker across the room, and at one point told my grandma that she was just going to have to use the bathroom in her bed because she would no longer be coming to help her out of bed. My grandma was left laying flat on her back where she started to drown in her own vomit and it, again, took upwards of 10 minutes for Onome to come in and help us get her in sitting position. After this she refused to give her zofran and instead said she would just put that my grandma was feeling “nauseous” in her chart. Last time I checked, drowning in your own vomit is a bit above simply feeling nauseous. When the nurses finally deemed to put in the catheter that they were supposed to put in 3 days prior, two LITERS of urine were emptied. It turns out that my grandma did not have acute kidney failure, she was just so blocked up with urine that it was literally killing her. How someone could come in with a broken arm and almost die from kidney failure is beyond me. If I could give zero stars I would. Do better.

My grandma has been treated HORRIBLY during her stay
Her nurse Onome was downright abusive towards her. She took her off of oxygen without doctor approval, screamed at her for having an accident because she neglected to help her up, told her she can go to the bathroom in her bed because she was not going to help her up anymore, threw my grandmas walker across the room. These are just a few examples of the abuse and neglect my grandma has endured during her already traumatic stay. We have complained about this specific nurse to management and they claimed they have had multiple complaints about this specific nurse.

Choosing Baptist Hospital East for childbirth was one of my biggest regrets
I wish I could say otherwise, but my experience delivering our baby at Baptist Hospital East was overwhelmingly negative - dirty facilities, rude staff, and incompetent nurses overshadowed the one bright spot: three competent nurses and one doctor out of the entire staff. Cleanliness: The environment felt unkempt and uncared for. Even the food quality was disappointing, compounding an already stressful situation. Staff Attitude: The majority of staff were dismissive, aloof, and borderline rude. My attempts to express concerns were often met with impatience or indifference. Nursing Care: It was alarming to encounter so many sloppy, inattentive nurses. Only a handful showed competence or real care - far too few given the critical nature of childbirth. Medical Oversight: The single competent doctor we encountered offered minimal reassurance - and certainly didn’t compensate for the broader lack of professionalism. Response to Feedback: Reviews online, there are standard apologies and a suggestion to call patient relations—nothing proactive, personal, or constructive. Bottom Line: The staff’s incompetence and disregard made an already vulnerable moment feel isolating and unsafe. I strongly advise exploring other hospitals in the area.

Place was disgusting
This hospital is the dirtiest hospital I have ever seen. My daughter-n-law had her baby here they never changed her bed sheets even after requesting for them to be changed. The shower curtain in the bathroom had pink mold on it. The bathrooms for the waiting area for labor and delivery was dirty had to go to different floor.

Your administrative department is morally bankrupt and evil
My insurance approved coverage for a surgery. Baptist sent me a bill for the full amount, saying my insurance denied coverage, and that I would be sent to collections if I didn't pay within a couple weeks. Look, my primary is wonderful and I love being under her care, but your administrative department is morally bankrupt and evil. How dare you steal from people like this? I was only supposed to pay $1300 and you just straight up lied and collected $10K from me.

I wouldn't even give it the star if it would allow me to now
Used to think this was an amazing place to be treated and then doctors who are like Dr Scott who leave even excruciating pain while you're throwing up blood and say I don't do pain meds here I'm not that kind of doctor what kind of doctor are you one that treats people and make sure they're comfortable and their blood pressure isn't through the roof and they're shaking and crying or one who thinks that he knows everything you're going downhill guys severely you're turning into Baptist Floyd the quickness and that's sad to say this place used to be a five-star place

Damaged me physically and mentally
They while I was pregnant messed up my IV so bad on September 5th that I had pain and muscle weakness to the point of putting me in a wheelchair. My baby was delivered there and I saw him seizure. Instead of them taking me seriously they brought in a mental health professional. They took my baby away from me for four days because I yelled for the mental health professional to leave the room. They said I couldn’t leave the hospital and threatened to admit me to a psych ward without my consent. Then if that wasn’t bad they got CPS involved and said my husband and baby could leave but I would have to stay unless I signed a CPS form that accused me of the worst accusation a new loving mother could imagine!!! I would be caught dead before entering this hospital!!!!!

You never know what you owe and, bills just keep coming
Even after months of service and paid bills they sent you a new bill for the same service you paid. When you call customer service they have no explanation.

To my African American community this is not the hospital for you
I just recently came here to the ER due to having very bad pain in my left leg and calf let me tell you right off the bat I endured nothing but rudeness from the staff here. As I am sitting in the back getting my blood pressure taken there was two nurses at the nurses station gossiping and laughing at patients as they were coming in cussing and just saying all kinds of mean things that should have been my first RED FLAG. As they made me wait in my room never once did I see my nurse I was waiting in my room over 45min until it was time for me to get my Doppler done. Dr Ritchie very rude arrogant and just doesn’t care about your care needs because “he is the doctor.” My nurse Adrianna was so rude with the eye rolling when I ask questions seem like she didn’t even want to be at work she definitely lacks empathy and knowledge. They DO NOT LISTEN TO YOU. They suspect you are just seeking opioid drugs when that’s not the case all I wanted was a few more tests to look deeper as this is affecting my quality of life. I will never go back here to this hospital or have my loved ones come here and this is coming from a NURSE. It’s very sad and heartbreaking to see this is what healthcare has come to makes it so scary to even come to the hospital to seek medical treatment anymore. The lack of compassion, empathy, and knowledge with these healthcare professionals is disturbing.
