Third world care in a first world country
I did a nuclear stress test at Mayo. Before the test, I asked for the numbers on everything that can go wrong. They were not forthcoming with that information even after I explained that I'm usually part of the 1% for weird reactions etc etc. After the test she said some people may have light sensitivity or migraine for about 24 hours.4 days after the test, and the migraine has persisted as well as the light sensitivity and sound sensitivity. I've been laying in a dark silent room so I called Mayo to find out if this is normal. The doctor told me this happens to .1% of people then proceeded to complain about his job and how he has to help sick people. When I pointed out that he's healthy and in no pain and getting PAID to work and do this job, does he even realize that sick people would give ANYTHING to be healthy enough do to the job he's doing??? Then he yelled at me, which amped up the migraine so bad I had to hang up on him. The medical system in this country has really gone downhill in the last 20 years. I had hoped mayo would be better since they claim they are the best in Florida.

Mayo should be ashamed of themselves
I live in Florida and tried to make an appointment here at Mayo in Jacksonville and was very disappointed that they Do Not accept any Medicare Advantage plans here. I'm a retired RN of 36 years and needed to see a specialist here. Is medicine just about money now? It should be a law if you have insurance they need to take you as a patient. I even offered to self pay and they wouldn't do it. Terrible, especially since 60% of Florida Medicare eligible recipients are on a Medicare Advantage plan. Mayo should be ashamed of themselves for denying services to such a large part of the Florida population which they supposedly are here to serve.

Profit over care and they’re not even trying to hide it
Wasted my time and money here. They refused to acknowledge my debilitating fatigue, stating that it “could be from anything.” I was told “it could or could not be xyz, we don’t really know.” After they hit a dead end with my care, they stopped trying to figure out what is wrong with me.

Mayo Jacksonville reputation doesn't match the level of care I expected
One of the worst hospitals I have been too. I have been a paitent here for 1 year and 6 months. I went to the ER on two different occasions with the same symptoms and needed invasive treatment both times after that I was expecting to work with their urology team to be treated and properly diagnosed. I did the initial testing needed and the results clearly showed a problem that can explain my chronic pain and instead of working with me to get a diagnosis they sent me to physical therapy which has helped but only slightly. They didn't explain what was the root cause of my issue and did instead bunch of expensive testing and their urology clinic wanted me to do a few other moderately painful and invasive test which the doctor does not think is helpful. Save your money and go somewhere else if you want proper treatment. The case that their Jacksonville branch is just bad in comparison to what they offer in Rochester that is just my theory. All the one star reviews you see can confirm that there is something wrong with the care they provide please do not dismiss them. It is insane how much these people charge for very simple testing and yet have the level of ego to be dismissive despite indicative testing.
