They are a huge liability lawsuit waiting to happen
I just moved to Tampa and I have elher danlos along with other autoimmune conditions and I’m disgusted by Tampa general. I went for chest and right lower quadrant pain and waited like an hour thinking someone would be coming soon to put an ekg on me at minimum. The phlebotomist was honestly very good and nice but that’s where it stopped. I told them again I had chest pain and I wanted to leave to go to another hospital, then all of sudden I was getting an ekg. I told the triage nurse when I got there about the symptoms and at this point staying at the hospital felt like more of danger to me than a help. They don’t seem to have protocols in place for things like chest pain. Also I’m incredibly nauseous and another nurse was eating her dinner in front of us. I wanted to throw up but why don’t they have a normal nursing station. They need that too! They are just lined against the wall. First and last time Tampa General. I know I have complicated medical issues and Tampa general ER clearly showed me I would be in trouble if I stayed. Trainwreck!

Won't go back unless I am dying
Horrible. Left in hallway for two days in ED due to severe overcrowding. Good nursing care and ED docs but other docs didn't give a damn. Finally discharged myself and went to another hospital for much better care.

This hospital customer service is horrible
I've been on the phone for almost an hour being bounced around to various people and departments, just to be placed on hold. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

This is absolutely the worst hospital I have ever been to
This weekend I was sent to the hospital by my neurologist from USF because my shunt in my head is popping. I ended up getting taken to the back because I was admitted. I ended up being put in the hallway again, right by the nurses station, and the lights were right by me. I was being led on that I was going to have neurosurgery again. They put me on a no eating or drinking, having all these tests done, and I was told a neurosurgeon would come down and speak with me, however no one came down to speak with me. Instead they “signed off” on me to be discharged. I asked my nurse about the popping that was coming from my shunt. She advised that she would message the doctor to see if someone was coming down to talk to me. My nurse came back a little while later and said the neurosurgeon said that everything looked good, and I was good to be discharged. Mind you my concerns were not being met, my concerns were not being taken care of. I’ve had neurosurgeons tell me they didn’t know what it was or what to do about it, so instead I get discharged, and sent on my way with the issue still occurring. I go to this hospital because they are the ones that did my surgery, but being treated like what I’m dealing with doesn’t matter, and being told I don’t know, by neurosurgeons again is very unsettling.

With the times that I’ve been here I have not had a good experience
I have been going to this hospital for a while since I had my neurosurgery in 2022. The first time I went in for a shunt check I was in the hallway, and I was there for about 13 hours. The second time I went in for another shunt check I was in the hallway for over 35 hours. Mind you I was right next to the nurses station where it was loud and the lights were bright. Mind you I work overnight, and having to go straight to the hospital, I was up for so long, they took their sweet time telling me anything. Something that should have taken a few hours took almost two days. The third time that I was there I had a lumbar puncture done, a few days later I was back in due to really bad and nauseating headaches. I had to have a blood patch put in my back, so I was admitted. I was in the “teal” section because they didn’t have a room or anything. I had the anesthesiologists talk to me and told me what the game plan was. Anyways being in the teal section, I was in a chair in the hallway. The next day I was supposed to have that procedure done, I waited and waited. I had a nurse come around to bring my medication that I take during the day, and I asked her what was going on, and why didn’t I have anyone come talk to me. She got on the phone to help figure out what was going on. She ended up finding out that the hospital had discharged me, and didn’t tell me. So I waited for two days for this procedure, and they ended up discharging me. I never got the procedure done.

How in the world is this dump of a hospital rated the best in Tampa Bay?
I would love to know what statistics are used to garner this tile, because my experience was truly horrendous! I went to TGH for chest tightness, making it hard for me to breathe, as well as fatigue, dizziness, joint pain, weakness, etc. Let me tell you, I've NEVER felt judged in any hospital or medical facility before, but WOW do they seem to practice how to make patients feel as uncomfortable as possible.

Told me I was pregnant when I was not
I’m not the one to leave reviews but I recently went into the er for chest pains, mind you the shuttles had to pick me up took a long time getting dropped off at the er and picked up. Then i was brought to the children’s section when I’ve been 18 for a while now. In this children’s room there is a camera in there, also on top of that the toilet was right under that camera with a curtain to go around me but the camera has full view. Then they did a pregnancy test on me and then came back in and said I was pregnant which only made my chest hurt more only to find out that it was negative after the fact that I left the hospital. Right before I left the doctor said “follow up with the obgyn and only take otc medication for my chest pains” then when they called me on my way home they said it was a negative test. Okay I still didn’t get any medication that they stated they were going to give me before everything was a lie. A couple days later I really start to feel bad so I looked deeper into the discharge papers and realized that my blood pressure was bad and that I need to contact someone. I WAS NEVER INFORMED ABOUT THAT. Now I have to do a follow up appointment that they also didn’t tell me about until I received a text message.
