I will never ever recommend Banner Health Desert!
This is a horrible place! Do not take your loved ones to this horrible hospital!!!! My 88 year old dad was admitted for a fall and he had fractured his rib. When he was admitted he was acting strange and the extended family lives out of state so by the time I got to the hospital the day after he was admitted I noticed this was not how my dad acts. They had tied his hands down because he was being combative to the nurses. He seemed confused and not being aware of his surroundings. My daughter and I were shocked. My dad seemed like he got dementia all of a sudden. We told the nurses something is wrong and they just dismissed our concerns. I felt they thought he was just an old man with dementia. My daughter mentioned maybe he had a UTI so I suggested to the nurses to please put in an order to give him a dip test. They never seemed to care. When the nurses had shift change they seemed they were not informed of me asking about my dad getting a dip test. I even wrote it really big on the white board that he needs a dip test! The nurses did not care about our concerns nor did they relay that to the doctor. (Side note we did not see a doctor until day 5 even though we were at the hospital everyday during the times when the doctor was doing his rounds) My dad was getting worse by the day and they put a catheter in my dad. I was at the hospital day and night at different hours trying to catch the charge nurse and also a doctor. I was promised the charge nurse would come into the room and she never did! I felt I was being gaslit with the nurses promising things that never came to pass. My daughter on day 4 was so concerned and told me we should get our own UTI test at Walgreens and give it to him. It would be easy since he has a catheter. So we went and bought a test and on the 4th night I took his urine from his catheter bag and guess what ...full blown UTI!!! Finally the nurse listened to me. I preformed the test around 8pm...and it took until 1am to give him an antibiotic. I was so furious! He could have gone septsis!! By 11am the that day after receiving the antibiotic at 1am my dad was back to being himself. I feel they just brushed my concerns and just thought my dad had dementia and never listened to me, that this is not how he behaves. When I finally spoke to the doctor and told him I gave the UTI test myself he chuckled!!!! Can you believe it? Didn't even care that I gave him the test and the hospital did not!!!! I wish I could remember his name but I was pissed and I said to him " You think this is funny?" And he said "no." The whole time I was escalating his care and calling the hospital but they didn't care. I even left three messages to Laura Robertson and she never called me.

What they lack in customer service, they make up for in roaches
From intake to discharge, the lack of customer service was obvious. We felt ignored at every step. That about sums up the experience—cold staff, poor communication, and an environment that makes you question whether it’s safe to be there at all.

I went there and they sent me to psych instead of neurology
If I could put zero stars I would. Don’t come here unless you want to be dismissed and sent to psych instead of the actual doctor you need. I went to st Joseph’s instead and THE STROKE TEAM said I have RCVS. The worst kind of headaches people can have. I was born here when it was desert Samaritan, and now? I don’t ever wanna enter the place again. It breaks my heart knowing someplace that was sentimental to me has gone to the worst kind of people.

My husband is currently a patient. Drs have been great but the nursing staff sucks. You better advocate take pics and be ready to fight for your loved one.

You are just a number here
My mom broke her hip. She was in ER for 26 hours before they admitted her. They made her go without food for 28 hours in case they did surgery, still haven't gotten on that schedule. They say they are going to bring her something for pain, or get ice chips, or get water, and they never do. I am chasing my tail to get anything done here. Very disappointed in the service here, you are just a number to get by doing as little as you have to.

My mother went there and they treated her so badly
Under no circumstance should this place be allowed to care for your loved one while they are sick. My mother was sick with a stomach bug and she is immunocompromised so she went there when she couldn't stand the pain any more. They treated her like she was just some stupid woman with no idea about the world. The nurse Noah laughed at her when she threw up on herself the nurse before his shift wes okay at least she joked around a bit with her. But the phlebotomist that put in her IV shoved it in and there's a huge bruise on her arm at the moment. I have had all my children there. My mother had all of us there too. They have made me not want to ever go back. They need to remember why they are there. To take care of someone while they are sick. People that dont feel good aren't in their best self at the moment. The nurses should be in their best self though. What happened to caring about life?

The “care” we received was disgraceful.
I’m writing this review in the hopes that it helps someone else out and because we have run out of options. I was admitted to Banner Desert for a ER visit alongside my husband. I requested to go to a closer hospital to our home (4 miles away), but ended up being taken here. I was mocked by nursing staff, scolded for bodily functions that occurred that were out of my control (a nurse got mad at me for getting sick on her shoe, out of my control), and my family members were rudely treated by nursing staff. The nurses told us our parents had left and gone home, yet they were waiting anxiously in the waiting room for hours requesting info about our state. No one tried to let them know how we were for nearly 6 hours until my father brought my phone in to my husband who then texted my family how we were. We submitted an internal audit which came back with nothing but lackluster apology. Not only that, my husband was given things he didn’t ask for medically, were charged an exorbitant amount for an IV (around $700 for a saline bag). On top of that, we were asked to sign a myriad of paperwork and asked for billing information when we were not in a normal state while still in the ER, which felt incredibly unethical. I STILL do not have the paperwork I signed to this date and the entire Banner network of employees continue to be unhelpful. After weeks and weeks of going back and forth with Banner, we have received no help, no proper acknowledgement from management about our case, and have been brushed off. We wrote a lengthy statement about our experience and it feels like they didn’t even read it. Unfortunately, they care more about their money than they do their patients. Avoid this hospital at all costs. They made a traumatic life event worse than it ever needed to be.
