I’m very angry with Mercy STL
They treated my uncle here horribly. He had a brain bleed and the nurses were really rude to him.

This Hospital provides deplorable service involving every aspect of care
Shame on them! They don’t answer phones. They shove you out of the Hospital. My son had a congenital heart defect when he was born and they sent us home after 2 days. They did not check to see that my complete placenta was discharged. My son almost died. They covered it up. You would be better giving birth in a barn than at St John’s. May God have mercy on them.

Hospitals are supposed to help not cause u more pain and suffering
My mother went to troy mercy emergency room for back pain found out she had a kidney stone and it was infected. The staff there had her transferred to mercy st.louis where she had emergency surgery to have a stent put in by a urologist who charged her insurance for that. She wakes up finds out the kidney stone is still inside her and would have to come back at a later date to have it removed. Was discharged 2 days later and sent home with on friday with papers to call on Monday to see when the kidney stone could be removed along with the stent. The urologist tells his nurse that he will not remove the stent because her insurance does not cover it unless she pays 2,000 dollars upfront. How is it that u can do a surgery put a foreign object inside someone then refuse to take it out. Was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience

I rarely leave reviews, but I think this is important for people to know
I went to the hospital just last Wednesday evening around 8:45 PM after my primary care and my general surgeon advised me to go. My husband took me and everything started out fine. Once I went back they prepped me for yet my third CAT scan in a month. I told him my symptoms and I truly felt like I was dying. We had to wait for the results of the CAT scan and afterwards around 3 AM, They woke me up and told us that the CAT scan came back fine and we needed to go home. I asked if there was anything else that could be done and the doctor told me he is an ER doctor and that I needed to go to my primary. I advised him that my primary care was the one that told me to go immediately in to the emergency room. He proceed to say there was nothing else they can do for me. I felt defeated and have had an extreme amount of pain. I had been extremely sick for an entire month. This is my third visit to a hospital for help. Earlier that day, I was having chest pains, fever of 103, body aches, and the continuous stabbing stomach pain. The doctor was very abrupt amd rude and they sent me home and home for me Is three hours away in the middle of the night. I had even had a bad packed thinking, Surely they were going to do everything they can to figure out what the problem was. Please educate your physicians. When someone like myself who never goes into the hospital is in for the third time there is something extremely wrong and not to be treated like they are frequent flyer of a hospital. I am a 50-year-old business woman of five businesses and before these episodes the last time I was in the hospital in 2023 for a torn meniscus. At the end, I found out my own diagnosis because I went and ordered an alpha gal test directly through quest labs. My test came back extremely high and now I will be going to an allergy doctor next. I was literally in anaphylactic shock when I went into this hospital yet they exposed me to another CAT scan and then just sent me home without helping and eliminating the process of what it could be. I hope the next patient like myself does not have to go through this. Lastly, I have really good private health insurance. There was no reason for them not to try to help me.

No one should ever experience this type of treatment
I came to this hospital with severe chest pains I thought I was having a heart attack. While getting my vitals checked my nurse became irritated for some reason, he moved the bed I was in from against the wall not realizing the monitor was connected to the cords that were hooked up to me. The monitor came crashing down on my head out of nowhere. The semi apologetic nurse gave me a fake apology and said he’d fill out a report.A few days later I went to my doctor and I was told I have a concussion. So I waited a few weeks to return to mercy to see if this could be possibly resolved. I was told there was an active investigation. Fast forward a month and a half. I get a letter saying that since my ct scan was negative no cranial damage there will be no compensation or medical bills paid. This ordeal has caused me so much pain. Headache, nausea, confusion and I’m just seem like I don’t have any patience anymore. Because of the concussion symptoms I missed work (12days) and I had to use all my paid vacation days and 4 days I went with out pay . I’m so disappointed in this hospital my feelings are truly hurt and I feel robbed.

Worst ER in the state of Missouri
Have been at the ER literally 12 hours and in that time there have been 0 updates throughout the entire process. Slow staff, slow process, expect to wait its ridiculous.

Unacceptable subpar care
Not okay. My father was taken there for a higher level of care, only to be told nothing could be done for his heart. The first nurse we had was amazing, talented and caring. My father was placed on hospice but left in the ICU care. The next nurse we had, Julia, was hardly ever on the ICU floor, I would see her off walking around when I went to the cafeteria. I would say we saw her twice in an 8 hour day. (no care besides pain meds) We discussed trialing taking my dad off of sedation. To my surprise, she turned off my father's sedation and walked out of the room. The respiratory tech changed some settings on his vent and he walked out of the room. We were left there to deal with my dad coming out of sedation, combative and scared. It was torture and I will never forget it. He was pulling at his vent tube and thrashing around...we had to yell out for the staff to do their jobs. I will never be back.

I’m never going back. No one could pay me. I’m traumatized
Worst hospital experience of my life here, and I’ve given birth with no epidural elsewhere. The people in the ER, do NOT listen! They do what the heck they want. I went there for stomach/GI issues. They treated it as a heart issue, but never helped me with the actual issue. Told me my heart was good and then involuntarily admitted me to the behavioral health because I had a few words about how bad it felt dealing with this issue with no relief for over a year when they asked if I’d harm myself. No! If I would, would I be there trying to get help? I repeatedly said I’d never hurt myself or anyone else’s when asked and I’ve never made any attempts on my or anyone else’s life. This area was filthy! Lord knows I was so disgusted, I did NOT use the rest room while there. I’ve since (figuratively) burned the clothing they allowed me to put back on after I could take off the paper one they forced on me. Imagine being in so much pain, you can’t sleep. So you go to the ER and end up in the psych ward, still in pain and being treated like a severely mentally ill psych patient. I’m ill, but not that type of ill. I was there from morning 3:30am until almost 2pm until they realized I didn’t belong there. Meanwhile, I missed work because of this nonsense and again, I’m still left in pain with the original issue I came there for. Waste of my time! Pay be Mercy! Or give it to the nurses in that area. I’m positive they aren’t paid enough. The behavioral nurses were supper nice! So, I won’t bad talk them…. But the rest of Mercy can go to hell for holding me against my will, and never addressing my issue.

They may be better than most. But that's not saying much right now!!
