We basically was charged $6,000 for some IV fluids and steroids!
What an absolutely horrible experience we had at this hospital. We went to a free standing HCA Emergency Room......after evaluation by the Dr there, the decision was made to transfer us to the Florida Capital Hospital for extensive blood work and skin biopsies. When we arrived at the hospital in the early morning hours we were taken to our room to await the tests. The Dr came in and did a brief visual exam and asked " Why are you even here " After being specifically sent there for these tests that we were told by the HCA ER physician, were absolutely vital that we get done, the physician at the hospital was completely dismissive. After asking several times about the tests, we were told that they were sending us home. While still having symptoms, without doing any blood work, and no skin biopsies, we were simply dismissed.......no answers, no results, and being told by the Dr, after we again questioned why they were not doing any of the tests that we were sent there for, some passing the buck explanation.......she had the nerve to say " sorry about the hospital bill ". I had to walk out............I've never experienced such an unorganized, unconcerned, sham of a hospital visit. I would not recommend an HCA facility to anyone. I told my wife, that if something ever happens to me and I need to go to a hospital, under no circumstances is she to take me to an HCA facility.
