This is not a safe environment; someone is going to get hurt
I was involuntarily admitted because of major depression, despite my therapist, partner, and myself expressing that was not necessary. The sitters were mostly horrible, the 1st one joked with a coworker about him being 'schizo'. During my almost 24 hr hold there I saw no therapist, was offered no psychiatric support aside from the medication, and was in general just held in an empty room. It was not at all a safe or even a safer environment for me to be in. There were numerous ways and things I could have used to harm myself, and, having none of my coping tools or person belongings made everything even worse. Overall, this was the worst experience I've ever had, including 2 involuntary admissions in my teenage years. This is not a safe environment; someone is going to get hurt and it will be the fault of the hospital and negligent staff. Something that was supposed to help me has instead traumatized me in so many ways. It will take years for me to even consider going to an ER again, and I will never be returning to this hospital, ER or otherwise.

Do not send your elderly family members here
My father came here seven years ago with pneumonia and they punctured his lung inserting a chest tube and he had to go to the main hospital for a lung resection and six months of rehab. and has been on oxygen ever since. He just recently went there again with an UTI and Pneumonia (even though my mother tried to get him to go somewhere else but he was not thinking clearly due to his infection) . They sent him home before he was ready to be released because he wanted to go home and they did not want to bother with him. The antibiotic they prescribed is unavailable and is on back order for three months. He ended up going back to the hospital two days after discharge on the advisement of the home health nurse and we made sure he did not go back to this one!

I came with a friend whose 2 year old split his head open and needed stitches. He was in distress for 2 hours before they helped him. And then when they finally got to go back, they still had to wait over an hour for a doctor. Front desk was not helpful.

This hospital needs to shut down being honest
They need new management, training for timely patient intake, more doctors to help out at this facility, better customer service, and a better cleaning crew.

The entire staff was cold, dismissive, and unprofessional
We came into this hospital at 5:30 PM after my brother was in a serious bike accident. He was visibly bleeding with deep cuts on his hands and thighs. He was wheeled in on a wheelchair, he couldn’t even walk. The triage nurse didn’t even step away from her computer, didn’t assess his injuries, didn’t even pretend to care. She stayed seated, completely dismissive while my brother sat there bleeding. After being brushed off, he wasn’t properly seen by anyone for hours. The doctor, a young Indian man, showed up after THREE hours, and answered most questions with a “I don’t know we will have to see” all he would say was that no bones were broken, and on a offhand comment mentioned that they have to check that no major arteries were damaged. It wasn’t until 12:00 AM — over SIX hours later, that a nurse finally came to wash his wounds. By then, the bed he was sitting on was bloody and dirty.

This is the worst place to give birth
My Doctor was not present during my birth, albeit having been 3 days early to the induction. Did not check up on me at all throughout the stay until the last day. Furthermore, Dr Erin Casey, the last doctor I saw for my birth ( I saw an average of 3 and can’t recall all of them); left me waiting 5 hours after her shift started ( I had already been waiting 12 hours since PPROM to dilate and it wasn’t happening . I specifically said don’t do cervical checks often, and although they asked every time , each time a new person did one and I ended up with an infection that caused sepsis in either me or my baby or both, it’s not clear also as the doctors never explained anything to me. My doctor who is at Bradford Clinic was like “ yeah I heard your birth was a bit chaotic sorry to hear that” … as if I had lost a bag of Doritos. My baby is fine. But my experience was atrocious. I would love to lodge a formal complaint to Novant but wanted other moms to read this. I have heard Atriums mother care is way better. So maybe consider that. But stay far away from Dr. Erin Casey from Novant SouthEast. You also get astronomical bills and when you ask to itemize them they make a big deal about it. Then you get third party bills too for the actual services you’ve already been charged for. How is that okay??? Stay far away from this place. It used to be so professional but it’s gone downhill.

Very disappointed !! Please don’t come here!
I have been waiting in the lobby for nearly 9 hours with 10 other people, the excuses we got was we are short staffed at the moment. There was a man in the lobby that had a fever of 102, chest pains, coughing, and heart issues…. I remember when you came in with that issues you got seen right away and this guys bless his heart, I was more concerned for him than for myself. I will never visit this hospital ever again. This is the worst experience ever. The front desk could have at least offered water, blankets something for making us wait so long. If I could leave NO star I would!

BEWARE if your seeing a Urologist at Novant Matthews
Had to leave one for a review. But NO STARS for me. NEVER SEE a UROLOGIST AT NOVANT they are incompetent Both offices with different names in Matthews. Carolina urology specialist / urology consultants whatever they call themselves. I've Been seeing them for over "8" years with numerous prostrate exams showing a "enlarged" prostrate and even had surgery for kidney stones I think? After NO consultation or results from their Doctor Ralph he never even talked to me after surgery like normal, so I went to both offices and complained with No answers. Therefore , I changed to Atrium health after 2 exams at Atrium with their Urologist, Atrium Did a immediate biopsy and FOUND STAGE 4 Metastatic Prostrate CANCER into the bones with NO CURE. I was floored... GO TO A PROFESSIONAL DOCTOR AT ATRIUM HEALTH - or anyone else but Novant. They took my life don't let them take yours.

I will no longer be a patient at novant because of this
I used to love this hospital but over the years the care level has gone down significantly. My recent hospital stay I was insulted by a hospitalist and left with very little communication. Test results that should have been in immediately took way too long ans the nurses and drs were in a power struggle on who was responsible. If you need urgent care I would highly recommend another facility. I ended up having to call my own outpatient drs to help me because the hospital drs were negligent.
