Novant took over and profits over patient care has become obvious
The way my wife was treated was unacceptable and negligent. I will avoid this hospital at all costs in the future. My wife had a hysterectomy in the surgical pavilion. She had a very hard time waking up from anesthesia, so we spent the night. On July 11th, she woke up bleeding very, very badly. We had to call an ambulance and get her to the ER. After several attempts to get the bleeding under control, we ended up staying the night and my wife was taken into emergency surgery the next morning. The bleeding was stopped and we were discharged. 4 days later, we saw her OB Dr, who sent us right back to the ER because of the pain in her abdomen. We arrived at the ER at noon. At 7 pm, we spoke with Dr Nassoy. He told us he was taking her to surgery and that we would be staying several days. Because of the previous recent surgeries, he told us he wanted to keep her because of the increased risk of infection. At 8:18 pm she went into surgery. At 9:30 pm, she was in recovery. A nurse, Lisa, called to let me know that she was in recovery and Dr Nassoy would be calling me. He never did. About 30 minutes later, a different nurse, Melissa, came out to explain the discharge orders. I told her that we were supposed to stay for a couple days, according to Dr Nassoiy. She said she would message him and have him call me. Still he didn't call. The first nurse, Lisa, told me that once my wife was awake and her pain was under control she would probably be discharged. Around 11 pm, yet another nurse came out and asked me to pull our vehicle up. Thinking my wife must be doing well, I went and got the vehicle. A different nurse rolled her outside. My wife was barely awake and coherent, crying and moaning in pain and throwing up constantly in a bag. I told the nurse she did not need to leave like this, especially with all the recent surgeries, and this nurse said this was normal. No, it is not! I told her I needed to speak to the Dr to which she didn't even respond. After a few minutes, she said she would message the Dr. Realizing she didn't care and unsure of what to do, I managed to get my wife into the vehicle and away from there. I should have never left. I wish I knew more about patient's rights, at the time, because I would not have let that nurse or Dr or anyone else all but throw us out like they did.A week later and I still have not heard anything from Dr Nassoy. We have been in this hospital MANY times over the last 40+ years and have never been treated like this. And I'm still waiting to hear from Dr Nassoiy.
