Nurse in ICU accused patients family of pressuring that patient to leave the hospital. Family asked what they were keeping patient for. Family never got an answer. Nurse was rude to say that to family members. I do not recommend this hospital .

Went to the ER for a medical emergency. Had not eaten in 2 days and had feeding tube. ER was under construction and was given a tiny room with no bed and a very uncomfortable chair. My back hurt so bad I could not sit and spent 30 mins crying until a nurse showed up and had to beg to have a cot moved into the room to get into a comfortable reclining position. There was zero privacy as you heard a nurse discuss every patient's private issues. It was like being in a torture chamber. I was given no fluids for dehydration. Medication had to be delivered by mouth instead of by feeding tube. Was never seen by a doctor, only by a nurse fractional. Was not referred to a needed specialist upon discharge. Was not any better upon discharge and the whole experience was worse than going to a regular dictor appointment. To be charged emergency expenses was a huge scam. Worst ER experience ever. Communication, which was never private was horrible. Do not recommend this emergency room, if you can call it that. Please go anywhere else for more private care. Wish I could give a negative star review instead of a one star. Health care is horrible in Beaufort, SC.

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY UP FRONT!
On May 28, 2025 I went to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for lab work. I was asked to pay $75.00. I told them that according to my medical insurance plan with United I do not pay for lab work (the hospital is in my network). I know this to be a fact. The girl said “my manager told me”. Well instead of calling the insurance company who would have told her that I am not required to pay a deductible or out of pocket cost for this – she just kept saying “my manager, my manager, blah blah blah”. So I ended up paying. When I got home, I called my insurance company and they said I should not have had to pay for this. I then contacted Beaufort Memorial again and told them that I am owed a refund. After speaking countless times to Judy, Valerie, Norma, Erica, Amanda, Jennifer, Crystal, Erica, Josh and probably every person who works there, they said the a long list of things had to happen first before I’ll ever see my refund. I have filed a complaint with the SC Attorney General’s office and they are looking into this.

Shame on you. I will not go back
I had a 14 hour experience in n ER, all sitting in a chair while quite ill. I’m an RN and I know a few of the tests take less than 30 minutes to complete. The waiting room, restrooms and patient areas were filthy. There was a lack of privacy for patients in the area I sat in the most, with the numbered chairs. I did not need to hear everyone’s health issues, diagnosis and treatment. How do you get away with HIPPA violations like these? I ran an outpatient surgery center for 20 years and the state department of health and Medicare would have shut us down based on my observations.

Made her wait in the ER’s lobby until she went unconscious
My sister suffered a catastrophic neurological event and was driven to Beaufort Memorial’s ER. Despite the hospital having her medical history which noted a previous related condition, the hospital staff made her wait in the ER’s lobby until she went unconscious and failed to transport her to a more advanced and capable hospital. That was on a Friday night. By Sunday morning she was pronounced dead.

I’m gladly never coming back here
This place I’m gladly never coming back here we have been here for 5 hours we called the nurse 3 times and it seems like she doesn’t care because she never came in the room we want to leave but they won’t let us until the doctor comes again and he “busy with someone more sick then my sister” but we just want to leave at this point.

I am a doctor and was treated like trash
I will never go there again. The nursing staff and doctors are deplorable. It was the most horrible ER experience I have ever experienced. There were so many people coming into the ER and I got ignored for 24hrs. One admin assistant actually cursed at me because I wanted to use my cell phone. She told me they were tracking everything I did on my cell phone and than made me give it up to her. If you are a 100% disabled veteran you don't want to go there.

The ER is a disaster!
The front desk staff are not empathetic at all. The nurses are hit and miss. Some are super caring while others do not take you seriously. I had to return twice due to "acid reflux". I knew it was something more serious. The second time I came back, they informed me that they are glad I came back because I could have died from a blockage. The surgical staff and main hospital were great and personable! Doctors were also very helpful and caring. I stayed in the hospital for a couple of days and had surgery shortly after my stay.

Expensive and lack of caring hospital
I wish I could give zero stars...my son was sent here from the urgent care facility and we had to sit and wait for over 8 hours. When we finally got a place in the ER, we were seen for approximately 30 minutes, given an inhaler and then discharged. That visit was over $4,000! Over $900 alone for the respiratory therapist to hand me an inhaler and say "you know how to use that, right?". I have never been to such an expensive and lack of caring hospital.
