No Mercy at UPMC Mercy
Ours is a horrible experience at UPMC Mercy hospital for our dimentia patient loved one, as well as us to see her suffer. Spent almost TWO days before she was sent to a room. She was in pain with a broken leg the whole time. Surgery was delayed until the next day because of delays. We waited for hours and hours before being told this. On day of surgery we had no communication on how things were progressing from the surgery team. We waited for almost TEN hours in the surgical waiting room. We finally gave up. Did not get a call from the surgery team til after we left the hospital. It’s just been an awful experience for our loved one and family. God bless you if you have a loved one getting treatment here. Pack your patience.

If my father isn't treated right, I swear there will be a lawsuit
I'll start off by saying, I dont think, actually I KNOW this hospital doesn't take there complaints seriously. How can you Mercy when you have so many people year after year saying how horrible the ER is. I've called in twice already and they didn't even know he was there! What is the point of rating a hospital or department when nothing is done about it? Unprofessional, assuming, rude, unprofessional staff. I'm not going to sign in anywhere and go on about this because it goes nowhere. I'll handle it the right way.

Sue them and report them to the state
I saw a burn victim on this report and all the hospital keeps doing is responding talking about “we value our patients. Thank you for your feedback” if people sued they’d get better nurses and doctors. Get the names of the nurses and report them to the board ! I’ve been having really bad headaches and I’ve been looking for a hospital to go to, to get a check up but these hospitals in PA seems very bad. I may have to drive back to Ohio to get a check up

I couldn't get answers from UPMC Mercy about this,I will get answers another way
My daughter had same day surgery here on 11/8/24,returned on 12/4/24 to have her stitches out,and then to the ER on 12/9/24 by squad because of a severe infection in the incision, we got here she had a small hole in her abdomen,ER faculty was great, she was being taken care of well, the wound opening getting bigger, then it was a large opening with a small piece of skin stretched across the wound, I looked closer and took pictures,I could see a foreign object embedded in the piece of skin,I immediately asked one of the nurses what it was, his answer was, looks like a broken needle" and then leaves the room, after a while the piece of skin breaks loose, and the object is gone, thank God I took pics).....nobody,I mean nobody wants to say where it went, then she had surgery again the next morning, now she has an opening the size of a golf ball, still nobody will answer about the foreign object that was embedded in my daughter, sent home with directions to pack it twice a day...We had to go to our PCP to have a home health nurse come out, nobody showed me how to pack such a thing,

They didn’t care about the more severe problem
My fiancé came in with 2 major issues. They treated one and kicked him out. They didn’t care about the more severe problem and sent him on his way with no phone and no shoes on. Trash nurses and doctors. I spoke to the nurse about helping him and she said she would tell the doctor and never did. DON’T GO HERE.

How you “lose” a patient for 3 days is beyond me
This is the absolute most horrendous hospital I’ve ever seen. My fiancé was initially here on a Wednesday after being involved in an explosion, he got sent in to the er and transferred to the burn unit. Once released from the burn unit they told him to go back to the er, when he returned down to the er they said he needs to check back in and wait even thought he was never discharged in the first place so we left. We had to return 3 days later and this time they said he was never discharged previously and they have been looking for him for 3 DAYS! Not to mention when we got to the er the second time the receptionist was sleeping and I had to yell excuse me 3 times to get her to wake up and the floor was covered in garbage and urine… absolutely ridiculous!

This hospital needs more attentive and caring staff
I had 2 knee replacements here, while my doctor was absolutely wonderful this hospital was terrible to stay in. Both times my room were sweltering hot, the nurses here wouldn't give me my meds on time, even though doctor said to stay on top of pain. I had floors mopped when I was in the bathroom, no regard for slipping, nurses ignoring my pleas when needing help out of bathroom.

Would not recommend
Came in as a stroke patient then moved from one floor to another finally got to rehab floor. Family never got to see or talk to a doctor. Patient advocate told patient she had to be out of there by a Friday and she was sure she could go home even though she was told what kind of a situation she would have at home it took her hours to get in touch with a doctor family could talk to and they didn’t even know who he was. Each floor has their own “staff” and it doesn’t seem like the patients records go with them. Just a very difficult situation. (Sister-in-law of patient).
