I couldn't get answers from UPMC Mercy about this,I will get answers another way
My daughter had same day surgery here on 11/8/24,returned on 12/4/24 to have her stitches out,and then to the ER on 12/9/24 by squad because of a severe infection in the incision, we got here she had a small hole in her abdomen,ER faculty was great, she was being taken care of well, the wound opening getting bigger, then it was a large opening with a small piece of skin stretched across the wound, I looked closer and took pictures,I could see a foreign object embedded in the piece of skin,I immediately asked one of the nurses what it was, his answer was, looks like a broken needle" and then leaves the room, after a while the piece of skin breaks loose, and the object is gone, thank God I took pics).....nobody,I mean nobody wants to say where it went, then she had surgery again the next morning, now she has an opening the size of a golf ball, still nobody will answer about the foreign object that was embedded in my daughter, sent home with directions to pack it twice a day...We had to go to our PCP to have a home health nurse come out, nobody showed me how to pack such a thing,
