On May 7th, 2026, my 51-year-old uncle disappeared while under this hospital care
On May 7th, 2026, my 51-year-old uncle disappeared while under the care and supervision of Ben Taub Hospital in Houston, Texas. My uncle is an IDD patient and has been intellectually/developmentally disabled since he was 6 years old. He was admitted due to a psychotic break and medication-related issues. He is mentally vulnerable, heavily medicated, and has a colostomy bag requiring medical care. According to the hospital, security footage allegedly showed him leaving around 6:00 AM on May 7th. However, our family was not contacted until approximately 10:00 AM. Today is May 8th, 2026, and more than 24 hours later, he still has not been found. The hospital did NOT file a missing person’s report after discovering a vulnerable IDD patient was missing from their care. My mother, who is his Power of Attorney, was also removed from the hospital while attempting to record what was happening. At this point, it feels like the hospital is working harder to protect itself than to provide transparency. I have worked in the legal field and understand the importance of documentation, timelines, policies, and preservation of evidence. We are documenting everything and intend to pursue every available avenue necessary. Right now, our priority is finding my uncle SAFE and holding all responsible parties accountable. If anyone in Houston has seen a vulnerable adult male who may appear confused, disoriented, or in medical distress, please contact local authorities immediately.We have audio recording from the hospital admitting they are at fault and lost him. My mom has been on foot looking by herself for 48 hours, and I live in Cali… So I have been doing everything I can online, flyers, making calls to the police, hospital etc
