Scheduling with Neurology Cognitive is a disaster
Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation. They cancel appointments, have someone fill in who is not a cognitive specialist and then schedule 4 months out into the future. One of the worst health care experiences with a supposedly premier health system. Y'all should think about a different health system if you need any of their specialty services. I will be calling the Patient Relations team to express my dismay.

I'll never visit another patient there
While visiting a dying patient, I was treated with disrespect. I was looked down on like I wasn't meant to be visiting. I was not impressed at all with the nursing staff. I'd never put a family member in this hospital.

I am absolutely appalled at the treatment that my daughter & granddaughter received
I am EXTREMELY DISGUSTED with Vanderbilt OB. My daughter just recently delivered her first child @ Vanderbilt due to her seeing an OB affiliated with Vanderbilt. A Week prior to her, giving birth, her doctor had sent her to their OB triage for them to test her to see if she had preeclampsia. We never saw an actual doctor in triage, only a couple of midwives. They both Compared their Swelling with their pregnancies to what was going on with my daughter and continue to tell us that she was fine regardless of The extreme swelling and extremely high blood pressure. I asked them to please just test her just to make sure so we could at least rule that out if it wasn’t preeclampsia but they refuse to and stated that they did not feel the need to do so. 1 week later when her dr. does finally admit her to go ahead and induce her, they inform us that mg daughter had extreme preeclampsia. They had to administer Magnesium through her IV for 48 to prevent her from having a seizure which caused her to be very Lethargic. Her water broke 3 hours, @ 5 cm, after inducing her. They allowed her to labor for another 20 hours before they made her start pushing. I questioned how the baby was getting adequate oxygen after my daughters water had broke So many hours prior and they just kept reassuring me that the baby was fine & doing great but Something in my gut just was not settling right with that. Her doctor finally made his appearance three hours into her pushing And at that point, I asked him how much longer he was going to allow her to push before resorting to other options. He stated “ I truly believe, and feel that she can deliver this baby on her own naturally, It would be different if this baby was going to weigh 9-10lbs, But she is only going to be about 6-7lb baby so I have no concerns”. She pushed for another two hours before finally delivering, and when she was born the Umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and she was blue. She stayed in NICU for 24 hrs. after she was born Because they were having problems getting her oxygen level up. So, that gut feeling I had was actually right. Oh, I don’t get me started on how they come and kicked us out of My daughter’s room @ 1:30am, not even 10 hrs after giving birth, and moved her to one big open room where it was literally “bed, chair, curtain, bed, chair, curtain etc etc” all because they got her insurance mixed up and thought she had government insurance which is extremely shitty regardless of the insurance you have, especially After you have just given birth. They did the exact same thing when they discharged her and the discharge lady had the nerve to come into her room and start throwing her stuff into bags to help get her out of there as quickly as possible, and I lost my SHIT on that lady. They never showed my daughter how to take care of her Stitches, how to feed the baby, they did not help nor show her how to do ANYTHING!!! These Are just a few of the issues that we had And the way she was treated during her stay. We will NEVER use Vanderbilt nor any Dr Affiliated with them, ever again. I was mind blown and shocked.

I used to think Vanderbilt was top notch. Not anymore.
I was admitted to the observation floor on 5/14 around 3am, with 2 small brain bleeds and a small maxillary sinus fracture due to a fall. The room some what large had 8-10 beds, separated by curtains, around it's perimeter and only 1 restroom! There were no call lights, no phone, no tv, and to turn the overhead lights off or on I had to get out of bed and flip the switch. If you need a nurse you had to.yell out for help! Every time a department came to discuss my case they asked for full name and date of birth, where everyone could hear (HIPPA Violation). at 7am that morning a construction crew, within 50 ft from my bed, down the hall were hammering. I sent a report. Even if the floor was under construction, it was a poor setup.

I will never recommend this Hospital to anyone
It is a money grubbing business that is incompetent . I had many numerous encounters with them and I am embarrassed it took me so long to figure it out. Save your life and your money and a lot of headaches and please inform yourself as much as possible and don't just take their word for what they say is what is best for you. Always get second opinions and always keep an eye on what they charge you. Do not be afraid to stand up for yourself, you know yourself better than anyone!

Vanderbilt hospital is a joke
If I could give this hospital a 0 I would. I was recently pregnant and found out in November at my 20 week scan the our sweet baby girl was diagnosed with a fatal condition called anencephaly. My OB transfered me to Vanderbilt given that this pregnancy would be considered more high risk. Due to increasing amniotic fluid levels, I ended up being induced a month earlier than expected. I went in for my induction on 2/19/25. All my nurses were great and we had one resident we really liked but the rest of the doctor's/CNM's were awful and treated my baby like she did not matter. Since I was being induced at 33 weeks my body was fighting the induction. They decided to break my water on 2/20 but never went over the risks. I truly feel like after they broke my water, my baby did not survive long after. Hours later they came in to check on me and baby and at 2:30 AM on 2/21 we were told that our sweet GraceLynn Jane had passed away. At that time I was only dilated to 4cm. Anytime I mentioned a C-section I was immediately turned down by the providers. Once my baby passed it seemed like no one cared even more. I only had a nurse check on me a couple times to take my temp to make sure I wasn't getting an infection ( which they once again did not go over the risks with me) since they decided to leave my baby in me for so long after she passed. It wasn't until 11:30 AM that a doctor even came to check on me and that was only because we asked to speak to someone. Once again a C-section was mentioned and I was turned down again. I eventually gave birth to my sweet girl at 1:37 PM. By that time she was left inside me for at least 11 hours but was more than likely longer than that. When she came out she was so deteriorated and purple and we did NOT get to spend the amount of time with her that we should have been able to. There was no reason that they should have left her in me for so long once she had passed. Vanderbilt completely failed my daughter and myself. To go in already knowing she would pass was already devastating but to then on top of that be treated like she didn't matter because of her diagnosis is absolutely disgusting. I have spoken with someone with patient relations and SURPRISE! That has seemed to have gone NOWHERE. These providers need to do better and be better! We trusted you to take care of us and our baby and you majorly let us down.

My mom had 9 causes of death on her autopsy report...all things she acquired here
My mom had surgery to have a cyst removed and after 10 more surgeries in 17 days she passed away. They cut something internally and couldn't ever fix it. 140 units of blood they gave her. She had 9 causes of death on her autopsy report...all things that she acquired in her 17 days there. Things happen I know but I did not like the way this was handled at all and 90% of the staff agreed. It deeply impacted my entire family for life.

We love VUMC, but will never return to the ED
My husband is a stem cell cancer patient. We love the stem cell clinic staff. This review is ONLY about the Emergency Department. My husband has a very suppressed immune system going through a transplant. We went to the ER with severe back pain this afternoon. After sitting in the hallway as far away from all the sick coughing people as we could get for FOUR HOURS without so much as any bloodwork being done, we left. They knew his immune deficient status and that he is a cancer patient, but that didn’t matter. After four hours, I inquired as to how much longer it would be, she said that there were people there who had already been waiting more than six hours and she could not tell me how much longer it would be. When I told her we could not stay any longer and be exposed to so many germs, she seemed indifferent and just said ok. I think she was glad we were leaving because it would be one less patient to deal with. They are overwhelmed and understaffed. Choose any other emergency room but this one.

Have to pay an unjust bill to keep my credit rating secure
You will get CHARGED as much billing as they can possibly code for a visit, and they are not interested in re-coding something even when you pose a legitimate complaint. The doctor would not consider talking about it with me. I had to work with billing, Cigna, billing, Vandy patient affairs, the charge nurse of the Hillsboro unit - all to no avail. I'm done with Vanderbilt
