Lack of care was the reason for my father’s death
This place is horrible. He could’ve been saved, but they were not very attentive. He went into cardiac arrest if they responded the way they should’ve he could’ve been saved. He was making a recovery but he was tied up during his cardiac arrest, imagine suffocating and not being able to move Both his wrists had blood imagine being tied up and trying to get up gasping for air he couldn’t even press the panic button because he was tied up He was tied up because he didn’t want to eat the hospital food

I was completely shocked on process to get into ER
I have never experienced being treated as if you are visiting prison or going thru TSA check in before even allowed to enter ER with patient who was suffering from post operative complications. The security was rude and bothered. However, nurse were very patient and kind. The lobby area is full of homeless people and others clearly not here for emergency maters. Complete deterioration of the ER.

A deeply troubling Emergency Room Experience
I am writing to document a deeply troubling experience I had in the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Emergency Room on April 28. I was brought in following a seizure. I was disoriented, in physical pain, and needed urgent care. Instead, I was labeled with a psychiatric condition and ultimately admitted involuntarily based on an inaccurate and unfair characterization. According to my medical records, the psychiatric resident, Dr. Bowlby, cited “intense eye contact” as one of the reasons for diagnosing psychosis. I want to be clear: I have had this kind of eye contact since birth. It's simply how I look — and, ironically, this appearance has been further shaped by a long-standing and unaddressed medical condition involving facial bone loss and empty sinuses. The ER team dismissed this. I had been seeking care for years at Northwestern for these physical changes, and rather than being evaluated or believed, I was labeled. It is unacceptable to pathologize a person's appearance — particularly one they have been asking for help understanding and treating. It is even more damaging to use that as justification for forced psychiatric intervention. I am asking Northwestern to reflect on how often subjective impressions — especially from residents under pressure — are given institutional power over someone’s life and chart. In this case, a seizure, and a visible anatomical issue, were overridden by discomfort with how I looked.

Disappointing
If you’re looking at Northwestern for lung transplant DO NOT BELIEVE the picture they sell you about after care. Any little thing u call for help they will tell u to come in emergency but leave you down stair for 7hours no exaggeration

This hospital has the worse service
If you want to spend 12 hours on a gurney in the hallway in the ER this is the place for you. The ER nurses spend their entire day socializing and laughing at the nurses station. They ignore your request to speak to someone in charge. Last time I checked this was a hospital not a club. Adding insult to injury, place is filthy dirty.

One of the Best hospital!?
ER is the worst. Not even stronger is so bad . 4 hrs waiting with kidney infection. Zero concerns whatsoever. Not even the fact I can develop sepsis! A lot of patients went ahead of me after arriving two hours ahead of me ! Homeless people locked in the bathrooms sleeping smh!

The day I got discharged I was given a bus ticket and had to walk a block to catch a bus to get to Amtrack.

The alleged "best hospital in Illinois 13 years straight"
For this to be the alleged "best hospital in Illinois 13 years straight", I am convinced they are not including the Emergency Room. I have been here several times and my last visit was my last visit because of the care, or lack thereof, received. I miscarried and asked to have any tissue or remains sent to my doctor per her request so we could determine the cause. The tissue disappeared. That was 9 years ago. I've never returned. Today I'm here with my husband and we have been waiting in the waiting room for 3 hours. No bloodwork. Nothing. They couldn't even find the vein in triage. My husband has huge veins. I know it's in order of severity. However, he is diabetic and they should be making sure he is stable. Oh and in case you were wondering, yes he's Black (I only mention that because many of the previous reviews come from people who have had horrible experiences and they are also Black). The fact that this hospital has 1.0 stars and they are doing nothing to rectify it is a testament to their disregard for the welfare of others. You're supposed to "do no harm"--when in fact, you're doing nothing. Do better.

It was inhumane experience noone deserves for their loved one
DO NOT REMOVE MY REVIEW! The worse experience of our life. Filed many complaints with patient relations and the floor manager. Noone cared. Some of the doctors and most nurses were rude and doing unethical acts. My mom was mentally and physically abused. She cried all night in pain nurses didn't care and did not give her pain medication for hours. My mom was bed bound and needed changing the nurses on purpose handled her roughly. No sympathy for her yelling or crying. Doctors wanted to do invasive procedures which were not necessary. I had to put a stop to them many times. No doctor would call to give an update on my moms condition; even though I left many messages.
