Second terrible experience with Baptist Health Lexington
This is my second experience with Baptist Health in Lexington Kentucky. Both times have been absolutely terrible. I’m talking specifically about bedside professionalism by nurses/doctors/clericals. There is zero professionalism or respect given to patients families. My aunts surgeon just verbally blamed her for making his job harder (his exact words) because I stated she needed Percocet instead of Norco, because Norco has proven to not work for her in the past. My mother was in the room and heard him say that now his job will be made harder because “she didn’t speak up for herself and tell him sooner.” All she was focused on this morning was just getting to surgery. She’s an anxious person. Hence why I am here to make sure everything gets asked and answered. Not only did he respond this way, he interrupted me several times and refused to let me speak. I deal with this on a daily basis as I am a cardiac/neuro/trauma ICU nurse, and I can tell you 100% it is not ok for doctors to walk all over patients families when they are advocating for their loved ones. It was one simple request. It could’ve been easily resolved with a response such as “thank you for letting me know. I’ll be sure to change that order for her.” Instead, it was made into a big ordeal about how his job is now harder and putting blame on the patient. Unacceptable.

Not helpful at all
My doctor and her staff are excellent. Unfortunately, Central Baptist healthcare facility made a terrible decision to centralize ALL incoming calls to the hub answering service. These people in the hub don’t know what they are doing and are only there to direct phone calls and look in your chart even though they have nothing to do with your care. What an invasion of privacy. Two different hub staff keep directing me to radiology to schedule a colonoscopy. How sad the premier healthcare in Lexington no longer values quality care.

I had the absolute worst experience giving birth there!
This place does not even deserve one star! They illegally held my baby for 8 days and when lawyers got involved they released my baby straight to the corrupted system of Fayette County. The social worker at the hospital is crooked and I do hope the worst for her after what I went through with my child there because of her. I hope she suffers the mental and physical pain I had to endure.Needless to say, my baby was given directly back to me on our very first court day.

Just nothing I expected from people who were suppose to help
It took me some time to write this review because I tried to get over my experience, but just can’t. I had a very hard pregnancy and gave birth at Baptist. My stay leading up to birth was really good antepartum was great, but after was horrible and a nightmare. My twins were NICU babies and I had never been treated so bad in my entire life. I was a first time mom who was scared to death and they did not help at all. My husband and I were talked down to, had people get an attitude when we wanted to touch our babies, did not guide me through any part of mother hood (didn’t encourage breast feeding, didn’t encourage kangaroo care, etc) and to the point that made me come back and write this, on the day of discharge I asked lactation about tongue and lip ties and she huffed jabbed her fingers in both the boys mouth and said feels like a premie mouth to me. Now months later it looks like one of my sons has a severe tongue tie that will need taken care of. Just nothing I expected from people who were suppose to help me and my sons get better.

Billing and Administration Department is trash.
Billing and Administration needs an employee overhaul. I will keep refreshing and adding to this review so it stays at the top until you resolve my problem with your billing.

He ended up with bed soars on his back.
My father-in-law was there for two weeks and the nurses barely visited him. It was one week before they changed his bedsheets. He was supposed to have PT twice a day during his stay, and they did it the first day and never returned. Nurses were too busy on their phones to clean his room or take him for walks. One of the Hospitalists wanted to discharge him, even though he had a scheduled procedure in two days. The only time they would do anything for him is if we were there. Very disappointing experience.

Please don't use Baptist Hospital
Let me start by saying that I work for customer service as a scheduler for a major hospital, so I understand that people can be difficult. However, I have never been talked to as nasty as I was by Shelly who does scheduling for Neurology for Baptist Health. I called my primary care doctor to see who my referral to was sent to and that I hadn't heard from them. I was provided the number and they stated that Baptist had respond back that they has tried to reach me on 4 different occasions, but I had never responded. Really! I went back 4 months on my call log to see if anyone had reached out to me from Baptist Hospital. NOT a soul. So, I called Baptist to schedule my appointment. I reached lovely, Shelly. I mean just nasty. I also contacted the Patient Advocate. After today I am going to make sure NO ONE uses Baptist. I will make sure everyone I run across is fully aware of how they treat patients. Baptist hospital is NOT concerned with patient care. They assume no one will go anywhere else. Na,Na my friends. I will reach out to everyone and personally get them rescheduled with another local hospital. The only way we can make sure this doesn't happen is if people stop using their services. Shut these hospitals down. We as the patient have the power to stop this type of behavior.

This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with a hospital
I’ve been to their ER, the labor and delivery unit, and the NICU. I recently gave birth to my daughter at this location and they failed to provide paperwork to the social security office and 4 months later my daughter doesn’t have a social security number. 4 MONTHS. Most of the staff are very kind, but god forbid you get a hold of the people working at the front desk. Phone calls, after phone calls, no one can help you. Was on the phone for more than 3 hours trying to get a hold of someone who could help me and they had no one.

I will not be back to Baptist Health Lexington
My daughter had her baby there 7/1/2024 we had the charge nurse on the 3 rd floor tell my daughter as she was hemorrhaging yelling at her and tell her that she was to calm down. This is absolutely not acceptable and that nurse in my opinion should be terminated. Baptist health if this is your leaders shame on you and explains why you are begging for employees. I will tell every RN I know what horrible service we received. I am so glad there are other hospitals around that people can choose from. I am a RN of 27 years.

They’re ready and willing to try to ruin your credit
Billing. Good luck if you have a teen. My daughter’s medical bill- which is being paid on monthly- got sent to collections because it wasn’t being paid fast enough. I tried to switch to myself as guarantor but they said no because she’s 18. The “payment plans” they offer aren’t any help. No one could afford that. Any attempt I’ve made to get assistance is met with useless goose chases. At 18 you’re legally responsible for your bill. If you try to apply for assistance they’ll deny you because of your parents income. Make that make sense.

Baptist health could you please tell me what to do next?
Went to the emergency room with pain. Everyone was great and was back with a Dr in less than a hour. The Dr diagnosed the problem and gave me a referral and was told to see a surgeon soon. Now I see the bills and I'm expected to pay thousands and have no idea why I hurt. I was sent away with no guidance on how to proceed with my health issue. I'm 68 years old and for the first time in my life I feel like a Dr didn't really care.

Probably the worst administration around
Billing is horrible and some of the worst customer service imaginable. They will lie to you!!! Look elsewhere for services If needed. Plus on top of a horrible and useless ER visit I will never return. They would not correct the issue and make it right. Which goes to show you they do not care about the patients. THIS HOSPITAL DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU.

I would not recommend coming here
You better be a advocate for yourself if you come here. I should have just stayed in my hometown and went to the er. I would rather sit home and suffer. I’m still going through what I went there for. They did not do anything for me. I still hurt. I will not be back

This is inhumane
Had daughter at the ER. We waited over 5 hrs and finally left. She was too sick to keep sitting there. You can't throw up in room full of people. Some said they had been waiting 8 and 10 hrs. This is inhumane. My in-hospital experiences have always been excellent. Not the ER! Go anywhere else because you won't be seen until you expire!

Place is pathetic
Brought my 11 year old daughter in with severe abdominal pain. Waited 30 minutes to be told we can't do surgeries for anyone under 18. Sending you over to er at uk but wait and we'll call and get u ahead of the line. They held us for registration so they could get that money.

Nurses were laughing and making jokes while I was screaming and crying during labor
This was the worst experience I think I could’ve had. Nurses were laughing and making jokes with each other while I was screaming and crying during labor. Made no effort to console me and ignored me. Gave no instructions for after care for healing. Then about starved in recovery because they would not bring food or water. My husband had to go buy water from the vending machines. Absolutely traumatic

Find an ethical health care provider instead
Do you enjoy being tricked into an unnecessary X-ray for 16 times the amount? Look no further than Baptist Health. They will send you to another building, have you sign, and then charge you “hospital rates” for a regular doctor X-ray. I strongly suggest you find an ethical health care provider instead.

Terrible nurses
The night shift team is terrible. They will neglect you in active labor and tell you you’re not having contractions, check your cervix roughly and wait till the last minute to help you. Do not give birth here!

Ask for charge nurse get security
I had the experience where security was called on my family by Casey while I thought I was waiting to speak with the charge nurse about the visitation policy that evidently just changed again. So, after respectfully asking to speak to the charge nurse, next thing we know here comes security running into the room like some big crime was going down and we were caught red handed. This kind of underhanded disrespect of good citizens who just wanted to ask a question to someone in charge was soooo uncalled for. Baptist you need to do more in diversity training and teach the staff that all requests are to be met with the same treatment that it is received in. Unless the family of someone receiving services at the hospital is acting irate and disrespectful treat them with dignity and a smile. Don’t be sneaky and embarrass people that haven’t done anything that warrants security being called. It makes the whole organization look bad when you strive to make patients and their families feel worse instead of better.

worst experience
I normally do not do reviews but feel the need to speak. My visit and stay with Dr. Forrester and Baptist Hospital was by far the worst experience I have had. When I told I was sober ten years and was very worried about pain medication, I was treated like nothing was wrong with me and the nurse (Sarah on 5th floor) belittled me multiple times. It was not until the general surgeon came into my room that I actually learned what was wrong. This doctor (Forrester) would not even look at my scan. I checked myself out ama and took my scan results to another gynecologist that was truly concerned I did not receive the care I needed. This experience was devastating and truly hurtful. I was shocked in the care that I received from this doctor and the nursing staff.
