All about the MONEY
My son received horrible care in the NICU @ St. Mary’s. I got no postpartum care. I saw 1 nurse in 24 hours and was put on a vascular floor which had very little supplies or knowledge to help new moms. As a nurse, I would say it’s unsafe. Find another hospital. We are working 5 nurses short some shifts. Mayo fired over 700 employees, because they denied employee’s medical and religious exemptions. A slap in the face to hardworking healthcare employees. I was mandated to work overtime while 9 months pregnant. It is all about MONEY to Mayo. Their motto is patients come first, but more like money comes first. Find another hospital that can properly care for you.

This place made my blood boil
If I could give negative stars I would. I am not one to post reviews. I went there from being out of state visiting family and my baby wasn’t feeling well and they wrote it off as him being completely fine and sent us on our way. I came back to our home and it got worse so I went to his normal pediatrician and she said he had a really bad double ear infection. This problem could have been fixed earlier if they did their job.

You would think being the "number 1" hospital in the country
The Emergency Department is ridiculous. I went to the ED about a month ago, I waited for three hours just for them to tell me there were 14 people in front of me. Upon checking in, I told them I am most likely dehydrated due to the medication I'm prescribed. At the three hour mark of waiting I was done. They called me to check my vitals again as I was about to leave, and I reiterated that I am likely just dehydrated and the nurse tells me "oh, if you need fluids I can hook you up to an IV."I asked to just be sent to the infusion center by a nurse triage and was told they couldn't order that.

Wasted 6 hours at Mayo
Waited for 6 hours due to a flare up they did X-rays and ultra sound for my knee they did not give me anything for my flare except for prescription like they could have given me a turidol shot to bring my flare down. The nurses did not have the best attitude.

Cool thanks
Some doctors and nurses are absolutely amazing, however some not so much. Why tell a child that suffers from non epileptic seizures or spells that it's psychological. Granted yes stress can cause but she has medical issues that cause stress on her system along with POTS. Mmmm just cause she is 15 doesn't make it correct. She has had a few falls and yes I make sure to say are you steady to walk no falling cause well my back can't take much more. So what do they do put it's in her head and ignore.

MAYO IS A SCAM & THEY NEED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR IT!
If I could do 0 I would. After being diagnosed with 2 incurable illnesses I have been ignored since Sept. every week emailing & getting all the nurses to respond for him. I called 11/4 to put in a patient experience complaint & gotten a letter 12/7 just saying sorry, saying they couldn’t get ahold of my insurance. It doesn’t take over 3 months to contact a well known insurance (BSBC) and it’s funny they stated they can’t get ahold of them but BCBS sent me all the correspondence they been waiting for and how many times they requested it. ALSOOOO I sent the DIRECT information to get ahold of the right dept to expedite it thinking it’ll help & fasten the process. Wrong. Idk if it’s a race thing because it can’t be insurance thing but DO BETTER OR KARMA WILL HIT & I can’t wait. Now I’ll be leaving this whole corporation with a satisfying relief. My pcp will now send referrals to go elsewhere for my untreated 4 month long illnesses/disability to people who I pray does better. (Rheumatologist & pain management/medicine) MAYO IS A SCAM & CALL PATIENT EXPERIENCE FOR ANY BAD EXPERIENCE BECAUSE THEY NEED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR IT! Plus I haven’t been “researched or studied” while in their care.

Had to wait forever to be seen
ER waiting room very very small to accommodate the patients and visitors, nurses are having to use the waiting room like a room by bringing patients pills, doing vital signs, did not care for the ARNP she made us feel like we shouldn’t of even came to the ER and has no compassion, the nurses very nice and knowledgeable. I am just total shocked thought it would be ran the same way like the clinics and it was just the opposite. I would not recommend to come to Saint Marys ER after our experience and what worries me we will still be here for hours and it took over 3 hours of waiting to get into a room and if you get up to get your blood work drawn, take your chair with you since we came back and someone was lying down where we just sat less than 5 minute

Nice customer service Mayo, really nice
My wife suffered a spinal injury on March 14, 2019, which was finally operated on at a local hospital in April , 2021. Several weeks after that, she exhibited severe shaking/tremors overall and has chronic pain overall too. Several hospitals analyzed her symptoms and determined she has Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). She is now also showing signs of Tardive Dyskinesia too. There has been little to no help locally so we finally decided to try the Mayo Clinic. Spoke to an Appointment Coordinator” who took her information. Three days later we received a computer-generated form notice informing us that the “demand for our health care services exceeds our capacity. We have thoroughly reviewed your provided materials to determine if we can add further value or treatment options to your care. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you an appointment at this time”. So now, my wife continues to be bedridden for 20 hours a day and writhing in pain. No local hospital has a clue on what to do. I find it difficult to believe that there are that many patients with equal or more severe Neurological issues that Mayo cannot at least offer a video appointment to see exactly what my wife is experiencing.

They left such a disgusting taste in my mouth
I have no insurance so I paid $400 upfront to see a specialist who knew beforehand that I had a sebaceous cyst on my forehead, and on my head. She told me it would be around $4000 to remove both of them and that I would need to schedule an appointment. I left and never scheduled another appointment and yet they tried to bill me for another $700 after I already paid the initial $400. Olmstead medical had better service and doctors in my opinion for a fraction of the cost. I figured I’d share it with the rest of the world.

They should not be denying care for a citizen
My family member has repeatedly been denied to be seen at Mayo. Their site say : World-class care for global patients. We make it easy for patients around the world to get care from Mayo Clinic." I ’m sure they don’t deny some fat cat King or Prince from Saudi Arabia. They have received Federal and State funding, they should not be denying care for a citizen of Minnesota. This should be unacceptable.

7 hours waiting with spine pain for MRI scan is ridiculous
I went with my older brother who had surgery from his spinal disc, and they made us wait about 7 hours. They took more than 46 mins just for the pharmacy to allow access for the nurse to be given my brother Tylenol while in pain for 7 hours straight from sitting with major back pain. Is this the best care????

Ridiculous ER wait times
The wait time is absolutely ridiculous. "The No. 1 hospital". You would think they could have better control.

I would recommend anyone I love to go -anywhere- else for treatment
Their GI department is hands down the worst I've been to. I am in no better condition today than I was when I started seeing them 10 months ago. They recommend surgery because they're incompetent and don't know how to treat their patients effectively. They're clearly understaffed that it takes 6 weeks to schedule an appointment when I'm in agony and can barely function. They want nothing more than for me to go somewhere else because I call them out on their incompetence and fired one of their specialist. I would recommend anyone I love to go -anywhere- else for treatment. These doctors at Mayo have the competence of Barney Fife, the warmth of a TSA agent, and the responsiveness of a man whose been unhappily married for 40 years. The medications they have me try, that have millions of dollars of research behind them, are as effective as homeopathy. The difference being that Mayo's prescription costs $7,000 a dose. It takes weeks to even get on the calendar when my symptoms are serious. Their immediate remedy is to go the ED, which they know very well isn't a place for specialized long term treatment, but at least it gets me out of their hair, right? They treat patients like a number, like they're on an assembly line looking to get the best pharmaceutical kickbacks by cycling through the most patients they can get away with.

Nothing special here
Nothing special here, except the high charges. Mayo charges higher charges for services than Minneapolis -St.Paul hospitals.

Unforgivable wait and being spoke down to
Went in for vomiting blood and bile and also a very sore swollen arm. Triaged in the waiting room where people could hear my business. They even took my blood in the waiting room. After 7 hours I was told it’s normal for someone in their 40’s to vomit blood and I just needed to rest my pretty little head to feel better. First the wait was unforgivable. Being spoke down to and crying for help with pain was also unforgivable. Being told I had to have a diagnosis in order to stay in the hospital was a blatant lie. Mayo your customer service is embarrassing. I feel bad for people that come far and wide for great help just to be treated like trash.

Uncomfortable long waiting
All these 5 star ratings are obviously not local residents! When heading to the ER even when Mayo is closer you pass by it & go to OMC! Olmsted will get you in seeing a "real Dr." & out before you'll leave Mayo's very uncomfortable waiting room. BRING A BOOK with Mayo! As you can expect at least a 6 hour circus! 3 of which will be in that waiting room!

Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed.
I visited St Mary's ER yesterday after having experienced side effects from a recent IVIG infusion. My headache and nausea were absolutely horrible. They administered Toradol, Benadryl and an anti nausea medicine. None of these helped. In addition to my symptoms not getting resolved, I felt as though the doctor was aloof and lacking in compassion. I was sent home in the same shape I arrived. Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. Do better!

Absolute disgrace
My mother was there for almost 2 weeks and they sent her home with no oxygen after being there on oxygen. After I filed a verbal complaint we were basically told “too bad”. This place is a absolute disgrace.

The staff are nice, but the service is terrible. I’m sitting here for over 2+ hours waiting for my name to be called back because i have a serious toothache. People who just get here to see the nurses, that’s normal, but they get called back after being checked in for less then 5-10 minutes while i’m sitting here in extreme pain for hours with no answer. choose wisely if you come to this ER

Avoid
I do not recommend and would avoid. A large number of staff acted very rude, unkind and discriminatory towards us.

Refused services
Refused services without complete payment of service beforehand. Difficult to work with and far from empathetic. Disgusted by this network.

wait 7 hours
The ER was understaffed. My mother waited with pain in her back for 7 hours. They need to work on that because it is Mayo Clinic!!
