The investigation done when we complained was only done to cover their asses
Mother was admitted to the inpatient rehab facility in the Jackson building. If you have the option, CHOOSE A DIFFERENT FACILITY. My mother had a stroke and was physically affected. She could not walk. The would not use a purewick Catheter, they were NOT cleaning her at least twice a day, much less every two hours like they said they were supposed to. In one instance, she asked a nurse to help her get cleaned because she had a bowel movement. The nurse refused and said she needed to eat dinner first. The nurse then never came back and a shift changed occurred. Could you imagine how demeaning it is to have to sit in your filth and have to eat? The case manager Minh should not be allowed to advocate for patient’s she threatened to stop my mother’s care when my mother expressed wanting to leave to another facility. She stood in the doorway of my mother’s room and told a nurse to not pay attention to what my mom was saying because she is crazy. She only ever said she didn’t know when asked questions but never provided us with resources or options to find answers. The investigation done when we complained was only done to cover them. If you are reading this an have experienced anything similar, please reach out as I will make sure this is not going unseen. If my mother was being treated the way she was, I cannot imagine how other poor patient’s are being mistreated if they don’t have family or friend’s advocating for them.

Over billing Scum, unnecessary “treatment” to line their pockets and half-rate care
Avoid at all costs! They literally kept me in the hospital for four days for no reason. The only concern they have is harassing you when you dispute a medical bill. Expect this “healthcare” company to send shady, frightening debt collectors after you who don’t bother to comply with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. And they’re super classy—they robocalled me on Thanksgiving day about my bill. Scum.

Be afraid-be very afraid!!!
This was the worst experience I have ever had. I have been a BSN RN ICU nurse for 35 years and the mother and legal guardian of my 36 y/o dtr with mult. med problems. We rarely go to the ER but she was having abdominal pain for the third day that was not getting better, that is when you go. They drew labs, did a CT, DID NOT treat her seizures or her pain, did not do a UA even though she has multiple kidney stones and you do not have to read her whole chart, just look at her encounters to see she has a lot going on. She gets blood in her urine, Mult. (high) bacteria and WBC in her urine without a WBC (blood test)that is elevated. For 36 years, a lot of broken bones from her seizures, I have never seen her so wet (down to her knees were soaked), and I mean wringing wet, from having seizures with urinary incontinence (she was in a w/c so she did not hit the ground) with her ATONIC seizures x 4 that she had in the ED and that is with a hygiene pad. The DR was incompetent. He actually told me she didn't have appendicitis-I told him that is good because she did not have one. She does have Free fluid in her abdomen (he did not tell me that). A renal cyst that by comparison has not been there (he did not tell me that), fluid in her vaginal vault (he did not tell me that), - he chalked it all up to an ovarian involuting cyst. I called the Patient advocate. Theresa Neil, who was incredibly rude. I have done a lot of service recovery in my day-21 years at parkland, 10 at UTSW and now at another 4 Level 1 Trauma Hospital (a real hospital), worked with several Patient Advocates, but she did not do any service recovery, in fact, she did the opposite. Then they had the audacity to send me a link to educate myself on what a CT scan is-some informational education. Again, no on looks at the chart or they would see how many CT's she has had. And no one listens to the patient , or in this case-the Pt's legal representative! Just know this isn't over. There will will be much higher people that the 1 year of residency experienced MD in the ER and the rude Pt advocate that hear from me. And when I do find out what is going on-they will hear back from me then too!!! In the 36 years I have taken care of my daughter as her mother and her legal Guardian, I have had some very good experienced and so me that are pretty awful, this one is at the top of the list for the worst! I wouldn't touch this place with a 10 foot pole. How they ever got to a level 1 status is beyond me.

Very poor regards for patient care at Texas Health Presbyterian
There is no communication between Dr. and nursing staff. Reading patients charts in my case was not done. The talking down to patients as if they are ignorant is not acceptable. We pay thru the nose to get acceptable care but unfortunately within the past 2 years the patient care Presbyterian hospital offers is lacking.

82 year old discharged by hospital in gown and yellow socks on a Sunday
Uber ride to house. He had no discharge information, no home healthcare, and no help at all. He is dehydrated, malnourished, and has no energy to get to the bathroom or get water. What is the purpose of the case mgmt/social worker to do for the patient?

They missed her lung cancer and never bother to mention it
My mother was in and out of here for a year and a half in 2022-2023. They kept telling her she had a UTI, for reference she was 83. ,She was in excruciating pain constantly, bedridden, had lost 50lbs, had started having seizures and had lost her hearing. The last trip to the hospital they finally did a cat scan on her pelvis which showed she had Metastatic bone cancer on her right iliac wing. I then found out from the cancer doctor that they had actually missed a spot on her lungs that should have been followed up on in February 2022, they just never bother to mention it to her! She died 4 weeks after her cancer diagnosis. There was no treatment available genetically. My sweet mother went from living independently and having a great life with family and friends to horrible suffering all because of the incompetence of the doctors at Dallas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. I would have sued, but in the state of Texas your life isn't worth anything!

The 'money' people don't seem to care
I have been waiting since early February after a visit in early January for a refund after money was collected from me while in the ER incorrectly. Insurance has paid and shows processed. When I call, and have 5 times since 2/8/24 and talked with 5 different people, I am told the same thing: Insurance underpaid so my refund is being held up, even though the money was collected incorrectly. I am told the claim shows 'in process' and yet when I call the insurance company and check online, the claim shows 'processed' and they have not heard from Texas Health about an appeal. This is not a small amount of money and had I been feeling better, I would have realized the person asking me to pay that amount was wrong - she needs some training, by the way. So, I'm stuck with being told something that is false from the hospital with no one to help me.

In this ER for 2 days with facial cellulitis
My husband has been in this ER for 2 days with facial cellulitis. We were Told a surgeon would be in this morning possible surgery to remove infection so NPO. He still has had nothing to eat or drink and we haven’t seen the Dr. our nurse is not to blame. I’m moments away from moving him out of this uncomfortable, loud, hot and stuffy ER room to another more competent hospital. While I certainly understand an overload of patients I DO NOT understand lack of communication and tolerance of a patients discomfort.

Waiting behind a curtain for 6 hours is NOT ok
The emergency room have you sit in the back behind the curtain for 6hrs. with no doctor in site. Terrible experience to be told the doctor has 30 patients in the er when you been here since 5:30am!! Please have patient advocate available for a chronic illness patient to talk about plan of care!!

Last place you should go to have a baby
This hospital doesn’t even deserve 1 star my sister went in to have her baby they sent her home against the better judgement of other hospital staff and she ended up a short time later having her baby in the car upon arriving back at the hospital the staff acted as if they didnt wanna care for her baby because they didn’t deliver the child but had they kept her at the time we were there it wouldn’t have been a problem poor service if u plan on having a baby this would be the last place you should go

I asked for water and had to wait an hour
I went when it wasn't busy and they took their time laughing and joking in the hallway. I asked for water and had to wait an hour, I arrived by ambulance because I was experiencing full body fatigue and no one helped escort me out. It just seems like I was a bother to them.

Family member nearly died in this hospital
Family member was left unattended due to contagious disease. Filthy room and bathroom. Never came and cleaned but brought supplies to practically bed ridden patient. Food was brought in cold. Uncaring and just horrible nurses. Family member nearly died in this hospital due to neglect and horrific treatment. Was transferred to another hospital where treatment was so much better and lifesaving.

Not returning
Texas Health Presbyterian of Dallas was once my go to for all things medical including two successful pregnancies and births. After my experience on 08/18/2022 in the ER, I will not be returning. The nurses lack customer service and empathy of sick patients and family of those experiencing a death. They curse while children and elders are present while congregating in the front instead of attending to those who matter. The nurses in the front end who are the first point of contact did not live up to the oath they promised. The hospital failed me and I’m so disappointed. The 4 hours I was their I also did not see any cleaning personnel especially in a time of Covid and monkey pox clean surfaces are important. Not one seat was wiped or floor mopped. Please do better for the Dallas community.

My advice, find a better hospital
7 hours to be seen in the ER Monday night. Go home with antibiotics. Then they call on Tuesday and say the blood culture is bad and that have to go to the ER and be admitted for IV antibiotics. Show up at the ER as directed and wait 5 hours to be seen, even after telling them that they called us. Then, they don't have a room for admission.
