Don’t do it
do not come here. even if you’re on your literal death bed, you’re better off staying out of this place. everything takes exponentially longer than it should. if you ask ANY questions at all the poor excuse for “nurses” will talk to you like you’re an animal. Rude staff, horrible cramp spaces, ridiculous wait times. waited at this hospital for 9 hours for a CT scan. After the 9 hour mark hit i just got up & walked out of the hospital nobody even noticed. went to the Allen Pavilion on 218th street instead of got diagnosed, Ct scan, & discharged all in 3 hours. this place is a joke.

Third World Care at NYP
My 82 year-old mother came in by ambulance on 10/1/2025. There were some ER staff who were helpful. She waited 3 days to be admitted to the acute care unit in the Milstein Building. We, the family are receiving conflicting messages. We were told she was medically cleared for discharge and then we were told she was being admitted. I still don't know what they found regarding her condition. We, the family are in the dark, despite attempts to get answers. The nurses are attentive and warm; however they are not doctors so there is only so much they can do. I've been in healthcare and public health for three decades, so I know how hospitals work and it has been my experience that some doctors fancy themselves to have rock star status - forgetting they took the Hippocratic Oath, to do no harm. I am not pleased. My mother does not understand why she hasn't seen a doctor. There are facilities in third world countries that treat patients better.

They didn't give me my daily medication leading me to have a seizure
This place is awful. I had a doctor tell me to come here and they'd be calling and leaving a note in my chart as to why ibwas coming and to please be ready. I get there no one knows what's going on. They were very rude when checking it. Sat in very uncomfortable chairs for over 3 hours before I got a bed that was in a hallway had test done on me right there no privacy at all. When I did get a private area there was a woman on there who's monitor kept going off absolutely no one checked one her. They did the same to an elderly lady. Put here in the bed both rails up no call bell to call a nurse in. I had no call bell. There were meds on my mychart that were order and never given. I was given no food in my 24 hour stay till I was moves up stairs were again I had no call bell was very rarely checked on. The have one bathroom for the whole floor. I also saw them have another elderly woman sitting in a very uncomfortable wheelchair for had to be about 5 hours that I saw she was there long before i was tho.

Their billing is horrible
I delivered in 2023, and had a balance to pay that my insurance didn’t cover, I called multiple times, and the lady I talked with told me to don’t worry to wait on my insurance as it still processing, I just found that it was send to collectors, without any notification to me. What make me mad it’s that when I called again she told me that she doesn’t see any call that I did before (calling me a liar) this just gave me such a bad experience, I had not problem on paying, but their incompetent behavior is sad and disgusting. Hope they do better.

I gave it one start because I can’t give it a zero sta
I came to the Presbyterian emergency room on March 22nd at 10:30 with a sprain ankle in a lot of pain. There is no staff on the station. I’ve been waiting for more than 5 hours with no pain medication, no nurse, no doctor to come see me. Went to ask about the doctor or any pain medication and I was told I have to wait till a doctor picks up my case, to go back to my room. The only reason I came to this hospital was because was the nearest hospital but the service is horrible and the way the talk to people even worse.

Very disappointing service, especially on a weekend
Barely any staff available. If you press the button to call a nurse it’s takes them about a half an hour to come in and check on you. There is supposedly a doctor on call but the only way to get in touch with them is for a nurse to text them. So you basically have to watch your loved one be in pain all day hoping for the doctor to get back to you with an answer saying which medication they can give. Plus you have to wait to see if the hospital even had the medication on hand. If they need help going to bathroom be prepared to wait for someone to come and help. Basically be prepared to wait for anything you need. They’re are some nice staff but they seem over worked so the level of care is quick and poor.

The night after my surgery i was in agony
I recently had surgery after a compound fracture at the wrist. I can tell you at NY Presbyterian hospital. The night after my surgery i was in agony, 10/10 pain. Hurt just as bad as when I broke it. I was supposed to receive meds at 10 p.m. 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. and each time the nurse was late sometimes up to over an hour. I had problems falling asleep because of the pain and a six-hour time difference from my home. I asked the nurse if I can get something to help me sleep and she told me that the doctor instructed to turn off my TV and give me an eye mask. I'm a 38 year old Navy veteran who doesn't take kindly to being disrespected and lied to. Hospitals also need to stop treating patients like garbage. Treating patients with kindness and respect should be mandatory. It is healthcare. Lower their stress, releave their pain, provide some comfort. These are all things that will help the healing process and help a patient get better.

MADE ME WAIT 14 HOURS WITH A BLOODCLOT IN MY LUNG!!!
I was given the hardest time at NYP er for 14 hours!! I came in with extreme chest and shoulder pain, trying to get some answers. From the very beginning the doctor was very dismissive, only wanting to give me medication without running any test. I did come here to get a second opinion after I had visited Montifiore hospital who was also very negligent. Dr. Daniel Bernard suggested I just visit my primary doctor, but the pain I was experiencing was getting worse by the day and no medication at home was relieving me of the stabbing pain in my shoulder. I practically had to beg him several times for a CT scan, which to that his response was “If the scan comes out negative, then what? What are you going to do?” I was baffled. Really think about that response for a second, coming from a doctor! I was sat in a chair in the hall way from 9am to 1130pm with no food. They made me wait 9 HOURS to give me another dose of medication, even after asking for it several times. I sat there helpless for 9 hours in the worst pain of my life. I was in tears. I felt like I was invisible when I really needed help. Turns out I had a BLOODCLOT IN MY LUNG!!! If I wouldn’t have fought for that CT scan who knows what would of happened to me. This hospital is extremely negligent and dangerous, which could have cost me my life! I will never come back to this ER nor do I recommended anyone else to do so.

The worst kids emergency room
Was instructed to go here from urgent care doctor. Beware kids emergency room looked like a border crossing and looks like kids are being seen in lobby. To be there with your kids sick and wait 3 hours and not be seen.

Never again to this place
The ER room is a real joke. They have no system. They make you wait 5-6 hours before they even treat you. No one is taking charge. A true example of horrible medical attention. You’ll wait 8 hours to get a room if you need one. They discuss your medical condition in a waiting room next to everyone. It’s embarrassing. Never again to this place. Never.

In the ED from Friday 1pm until Sunday afternoon
The LACK of care and UNPROFESSIONALISM at this ED feels CRIMINAL. There is a patient has been in the ED from Friday 1pm until Sunday afternoon. That is THREE day teams and TWO night teams that have passed. The patient has not been moved from the ED or assigned a bed in the main hospital. I have been on hold trying to contact someone from PPOC, NYP patient movement team for half an hour and not one person has picked up the phone. This patient is approaching 90years old, elderly. Keeping an ELDERLY patient in the ED for 30+ hours is UNSAFE for patient safety. I spoke with the hospital administrator who basically DISMISSED my concern and told me she would pass it on to the same unit that I have been trying to contact and is CLOSED until Monday morning. IF the problem is you have no beds, TRANSFER patients who are waiting on beds to hospital that does have beds. NEW YORK PRESBYTERIAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF ITSELF AND THE WAY IT TREATS PATIENTS!

Avoid NYP emergency room
Beware NYP emergency room. On November 8 I came to NYP because of dizziness. I was kept in the emergency room which is freezing. I was kept 50+ hours in the main emergency room, 8 of which was in the hall by an exit door. Then I was transferred to an emergency overflow room which was also freezing. There was inadequate services inadequate food, not even a warm cup of tea. Finally yesterday I was transferred to an actual room. Overnight I was told I tested positive for covid. This institution is not equipped to handle the oncoming winter serge of covid & flu. Since 2020 I survived covid. I worked meticulously to keep myself safe. I trusted NYP because it used to be a very reputable hospital. The doctors are still great, but do not, and I repeat do not go to their emergency room. If your doctor is affiliated with this hospital, ask them for direct admission. Avoid their emergency room at all cost.

Disgusting
I was pregnant, I went to emergency with vaginal bleeding and severe pain, I waited around 1 hour in registration just to be called and the pain was going worst every minute, I decided to speak with the lady in charge and I asked her for help, I was crying not able to stay up cause the pain was horrible and the only thing she said was there were more people first than me and that I was supposed to wait. So I moved to another hospital and sadly they told me the pain and bleeding was because I was having a miscarriage. This is so sad, the way they treated me while I was having a miscarriage is disgusting, I hope they can improve their adult emergency.

Avoid this place
Please save yourself some sanity and money and never ever go to this place. I've had a horrifying ordeal here and am scarred which saddened me and affected me on so many different levels. They messed up my smile, they owe me money and they also tried to make me responsible for the fact that the dentures made by them don't fit and make me look like a prehistoric fish! I complained and they got lawyers and protected and got it all covered.

MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE CASE Sep-01-22.
In the er they put my 3-year-old baby's life at risk, he put a hard candy inside his nose and it got stuck, I took him to have the foreign body removed from his nose and they told me that they were very busy, that they could not give priority to my son and that they had 30 rooms and 60 patients at that time, I begged them to attend him quickly, they made me wait more than 2 hours until the foreign body went very deep inside his nose, when they came to help me the candy was no longer visible and they could do nothing and they had to call a specialist and insert a camera to see if it was not in his lungs, thank God apparently the child had swallowed it but they did not want to attend to him quickly, don't work for EMERGENCY PRIORITY they don't know that, they don't care.

Worst hospital ever
My mother went there for a simple treatment but it’s took a whole day. She was discharged early the next morning and they had the audacity to leave a catheter when it was only inserted for a pee sample. I had to put her back in a ambulance to go back to the hospital to get it removed. DO NOT GO HERE AND PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FAMILY. I can only imagine what else happen while I was gone
