The treatment, or lack there of, that I received in the ER on 05/05/2026 was despicable
They stopped listening to my symptoms after I said my chest hurt & I proceeded to sit there in severe pain for hours & the only thing that happened was imaging and blood work. The physicians assistant was Jessica & she is by far the rudest person I've ever encountered in a hospital setting. I only saw someone when I first got there & when I left, they knew my pain was at a 9 & ignored me the entire time. Abhorrent behavior from everyone except the x-ray tech & the ct tech both of whom were awesome. I wouldn't recommend this place if you need medical help, go here if you want to be ignored & mistreated. I'd LOVE to speak to Jessica's supervisor but I bet it would be a waste of time just like this visit. It's sad when the staff at the restaurant around the corner treats you better than the hospital

We had such a horrible experience at this hospital Friday
First, my father was picked up by an ambulance in Spencer County (Taylorsville) and brought to Baptist ER in St Matthew’s. It was evident to the EMS personnel that Dad was having a stroke. Once in the ER, we could see that Dad’s mouth was drooping and he was having problems finding his words and talking. Then while waiting for dad’s treatment, our 84 yo mom began to break down in pain and exhaustion. We couldn’t get help for mom at the Baptist ER so we took her to Baptist urgent care down the street where an APRN diagnosed her with shingles. She suggested that since it was near mom’s eye we go back to the ER and be seen ASAP. (I have written a much longer explanation, but just know that the diagnoses were ridiculous!) The neurologist diagnosed Dad with a panic attack instead of a TIA and Mom was diagnosed with Impetigo and a headache instead of shingles across her face. The doctors at the Baptist ER didn’t listen and the nurses (except for 2) had no compassion. My parents and grandparents have always used Baptist hospital over the years, but this last experience will cause us to never seek care there again.

It’s honestly disgusting what they are doing to me
Lindsay Arnold doesn’t know what she is doing she is a breast doctor and I’ve been dealing with same pain and trauma for over a year now that she still doesn’t know what to do with. Terrible doctors that do not know what they are doing and just try to get you out as fast as possible! And my experience giving birth at the Baptist health in Lagrange was the worst experience of my life they should not be allowed to do what they are doing to patients which is (absolutely nothing) and still getting paid for it. I do not want anyone to go through what I went through at these hospitals if you ever have anything serious that needs to be dealt with DO NOT GO TO BAPTIST HEALTH! It’s honestly disgusting what they are doing to me and now putting me in a situation where I have to try to sue them or just deal with my pain and problems they won’t fix that they caused!!

I would never ever give birth here again
I was left alone after my C-section unmonitored and barely awake. I was left to throw up all over myself since I was still numb from my surgery and couldn't sit up myself. Thankfully my husband was finally brought to my room and was able to help clean me up. The bigger issue was the night after my surgery, I was in excruciating pain and my sweet nurse was the only one to advocate for me. After being ignored and accused of just asking for more medication, my angel of a mother demanded they look deeper. The doctors then had horrible attitudes and did the bare minimum, ignored my WBC still being elevated, and sent me on my way saying the issue was "just gas and constipation" After being discharged, I had to be rushed back to the ER with the same exact pain as I had in this hospital. Thankfully, my husband took me to Norton where the staff actually listened to me. There, while turning yellow, I was told my liver was now starting to fail due to my gallbladder having been extremely infected since my discharge from Baptist. So infected that I needed two separate procedures. I also had to have a drain in my stomach after my emergency gallbladder removal. Because Baptist had ignored my pain, I had to miss out on the first two months with my newborn daughter, could no longer breastfeed, was left in excruciating pain, and was close to suffering fatally from liver failure and septic shock, and my daughter could have been left to grow up without her mom. All because they saw a young black woman and assumed I just wanted drugs. My husband and I are now terrified of me ever giving birth again. I am sad that wonderful people like my nurse, my surgeon, and a handful of doctors here have to be looped in to reviews like this. However, the neglect I experienced here was scary and has made me scared to ever have another baby.

This level of treatment is ridiculous and downright dangerous
The nurses on floor eight tower D seem to be woefully incompetent, lazy, and downright abusive towards their patients. My grandma was transferred here from Harrison County and I will never recommend anyone to come here for any reason. The doctor specifically requested a catheter be put in after her surgery and nurses refused to do so. The doctor told us that my grandma had acute kidney failure and that “she could die from this” and offered no treatment other than to “drink water”. She was immediately put on a a diet where she could not drink water. She was given an enema for constipation, which we later found out was completely unnecessary. My grandma was unable to get out of bed by herself and had multiple accidents on the floor and the bed because nurses took upwards of 10-15 minutes to come to the room after call button was pressed. The night nurse, Onome, verbally abused my grandma for having accidents and humiliated her at a time where she was already feeling vulnerable and ashamed. Onome also removed my grandma’s oxygen without doctor approval, which caused her oxygen levels to dip dangerously low. Onome slammed things around, threw my grandma’s walker across the room, and at one point told my grandma that she was just going to have to use the bathroom in her bed because she would no longer be coming to help her out of bed. My grandma was left laying flat on her back where she started to drown in her own vomit and it, again, took upwards of 10 minutes for Onome to come in and help us get her in sitting position. After this she refused to give her zofran and instead said she would just put that my grandma was feeling “nauseous” in her chart. Last time I checked, drowning in your own vomit is a bit above simply feeling nauseous. When the nurses finally deemed to put in the catheter that they were supposed to put in 3 days prior, two LITERS of urine were emptied. It turns out that my grandma did not have acute kidney failure, she was just so blocked up with urine that it was literally killing her. How someone could come in with a broken arm and almost die from kidney failure is beyond me. If I could give zero stars I would. Do better.

My grandma has been treated HORRIBLY during her stay
Her nurse Onome was downright abusive towards her. She took her off of oxygen without doctor approval, screamed at her for having an accident because she neglected to help her up, told her she can go to the bathroom in her bed because she was not going to help her up anymore, threw my grandmas walker across the room. These are just a few examples of the abuse and neglect my grandma has endured during her already traumatic stay. We have complained about this specific nurse to management and they claimed they have had multiple complaints about this specific nurse.

Choosing Baptist Hospital East for childbirth was one of my biggest regrets
I wish I could say otherwise, but my experience delivering our baby at Baptist Hospital East was overwhelmingly negative - dirty facilities, rude staff, and incompetent nurses overshadowed the one bright spot: three competent nurses and one doctor out of the entire staff. Cleanliness: The environment felt unkempt and uncared for. Even the food quality was disappointing, compounding an already stressful situation. Staff Attitude: The majority of staff were dismissive, aloof, and borderline rude. My attempts to express concerns were often met with impatience or indifference. Nursing Care: It was alarming to encounter so many sloppy, inattentive nurses. Only a handful showed competence or real care - far too few given the critical nature of childbirth. Medical Oversight: The single competent doctor we encountered offered minimal reassurance - and certainly didn’t compensate for the broader lack of professionalism. Response to Feedback: Reviews online, there are standard apologies and a suggestion to call patient relations—nothing proactive, personal, or constructive. Bottom Line: The staff’s incompetence and disregard made an already vulnerable moment feel isolating and unsafe. I strongly advise exploring other hospitals in the area.

Place was disgusting
This hospital is the dirtiest hospital I have ever seen. My daughter-n-law had her baby here they never changed her bed sheets even after requesting for them to be changed. The shower curtain in the bathroom had pink mold on it. The bathrooms for the waiting area for labor and delivery was dirty had to go to different floor.

Your administrative department is morally bankrupt and evil
My insurance approved coverage for a surgery. Baptist sent me a bill for the full amount, saying my insurance denied coverage, and that I would be sent to collections if I didn't pay within a couple weeks. Look, my primary is wonderful and I love being under her care, but your administrative department is morally bankrupt and evil. How dare you steal from people like this? I was only supposed to pay $1300 and you just straight up lied and collected $10K from me.

I wouldn't even give it the star if it would allow me to now
Used to think this was an amazing place to be treated and then doctors who are like Dr Scott who leave even excruciating pain while you're throwing up blood and say I don't do pain meds here I'm not that kind of doctor what kind of doctor are you one that treats people and make sure they're comfortable and their blood pressure isn't through the roof and they're shaking and crying or one who thinks that he knows everything you're going downhill guys severely you're turning into Baptist Floyd the quickness and that's sad to say this place used to be a five-star place

Damaged me physically and mentally
They while I was pregnant messed up my IV so bad on September 5th that I had pain and muscle weakness to the point of putting me in a wheelchair. My baby was delivered there and I saw him seizure. Instead of them taking me seriously they brought in a mental health professional. They took my baby away from me for four days because I yelled for the mental health professional to leave the room. They said I couldn’t leave the hospital and threatened to admit me to a psych ward without my consent. Then if that wasn’t bad they got CPS involved and said my husband and baby could leave but I would have to stay unless I signed a CPS form that accused me of the worst accusation a new loving mother could imagine!!! I would be caught dead before entering this hospital!!!!!

Even after months of service and paid bills they sent you a new bill for the same service you paid. When you call customer service they have no explanation.

To my African American community this is not the hospital for you
I just recently came here to the ER due to having very bad pain in my left leg and calf let me tell you right off the bat I endured nothing but rudeness from the staff here. As I am sitting in the back getting my blood pressure taken there was two nurses at the nurses station gossiping and laughing at patients as they were coming in cussing and just saying all kinds of mean things that should have been my first RED FLAG. As they made me wait in my room never once did I see my nurse I was waiting in my room over 45min until it was time for me to get my Doppler done. Dr Ritchie very rude arrogant and just doesn’t care about your care needs because “he is the doctor.” My nurse Adrianna was so rude with the eye rolling when I ask questions seem like she didn’t even want to be at work she definitely lacks empathy and knowledge. They DO NOT LISTEN TO YOU. They suspect you are just seeking opioid drugs when that’s not the case all I wanted was a few more tests to look deeper as this is affecting my quality of life. I will never go back here to this hospital or have my loved ones come here and this is coming from a NURSE. It’s very sad and heartbreaking to see this is what healthcare has come to makes it so scary to even come to the hospital to seek medical treatment anymore. The lack of compassion, empathy, and knowledge with these healthcare professionals is disturbing.

Predatory Billing
Went into this hospital to have a procedure done. I paid in advance to have a specific procedure completed. Once I awoke I was told my procedure went well and no other charges were discussed at that time. Over 30 days later I receive an email telling me they want another $1400.00 dollars because they sent off some materials to be check further. I never agreed to have this done and was never told it would cost another $1400.00. I called the billing dept to discuss the matter and was told that when I initialed the computer screen to allow them to do the procedure that it is an open ended contract that allows them to charge me whatever the deem necessary and they will not negotiate the price, even though my insurance company has already covered 50% of this ridiculous undisclosed charge. I do not recommend this hospital as they had ample time to discuss these extra charges that would be billed to me at a later date. Instead they charged me for extra services without my prior knowledge and demand payment in full. I will be consulting with an attorney to see if I can fight this in court as I don't want other people to fall victim to this predatory behavior.

We are just a number and a $$ amount.
Incredibly disappointed in concern and lack of any compassion. Phone calls seldom returned, or when they were, "oh, I have to talk to someone else, or "soinso" will call you back.....Don't waste your time with patient services. Unfortunately may be sign of the times in Healthcare. VERY disappointing.

No patient should have been through what I have endured.
I went into the E.R. with severe pain in May in my shoulder. I was also having an increase in seizures. So they sent me upstairs. I was never given any pain. I was told there is some deformity in my left shoulder but not really. The neurosurgery department told me I wasn't having a seizure. They directly said there was nothing they could do. I was very upset! How dare a hospital treat a patient as this! How dare a hospital do not help on patient file! I went to u ofl using the same MRI the neurosurgeon had to operate on my nerve 3 and 4 because the fluid was backing up into my brain and not flowing down correctly. Also, it was causing the nerve signals to be on a delay. If I didn't go to U of L I could have died!!@@ Due to Baptist East lack of care from their neurosurgeon team. I am so upset I may have to talk to an attorney.

Nonprofit? Their CEO made over 3 million dollars!
Outrageously expensive. Baptist Hospital bought a local vascular surgery practice. The nice doctors there charged me $200 for a test. Then Baptist Health Hospital then bought that group and then charged me $2800 for the exact same test at the exact same location and I had no recourse!

DO NOT BELIEVE THEIR COST ESTIMATES
They estimated a surgery at $2,900. After doing research I determined this was a good price and moved forward. After the surgery that cost more than doubled with no explanation except “guess we messed up”. I challenged the cost that increased despite fewer services being performed than estimated (the original estimate included an overnight stay, but I was discharged same day) and the punchline is they have endless pockets and will fight you out of spite and insist you owe money you weren’t prepared for, just because they say so. No other business is allowed to function in this kind of egregiously fraudulent manner. They don’t care about your well being. They care about profit.

Came in after passing out and fell out of the bed
Came in after passing out at work and was treated horribly from the first step in the door. Very rude & unprofessional at check in. Thrown in a room, rails was not put up and I fell out of the bed. I was not informed on the call light location. Stuck on the floor spinning for 7 mins. Had to throw shoes at the door and still NOT ONE of the 10 ppl at the desk came to assist. I asked to speak to the operations manager and was DISRESPECTED & DISCHARGED. I have it all on a 11mins video & plan to take immediate action. Zero Stars!!! Do Not go here.

Think twice before you go
After spending 13 days at this hospital, i'm very disappointed. I've always believed they were a great place to go when sick. But, that wasn't the case. I was in intense pain and vomiting for 10 days. Several Ct scans and Xray's. And, the final straw, a Ct scan that went horrible wrong. Think twice before you go, yes you are only a number.

Labor & delivery was awful
Gave birth in August and was told to stop screaming while pushing my baby out. I had nitrous oxide and was told I had to hold the mask up to my nose and mouth and that no one would be able to do it for me yet one of the nurses kept pushing the mask up to my face when I kept trying to put it away. I declined all iv meds and they still gave me an iv “just in case” then kept poking my other arm to draw blood instead. Took over 24h for them to take the unused IV out of my wrist I had to call them a couple times to get someone to remove it. Kept pushing a paternity test after me and my partner both declined. We signed the paternity papers and got them notarized and the nurses didn’t turn the paperwork in so my daughters dad was left off the birth certificate which we had to pay to get fixed. Definitely will not go here for our next baby.

Sat for nearly 3 hours and heard from no one
This is ridiculous. Wife had severe abdominal pain and had vomited several times. Went to ask how much longer it would be, after waiting 3 hours, the receptionist said there were 7 people ahead of my wife and wasn't sure how much longer it would be. At that time, the lobby was nearly empty. We ended up leaving, unseen by anyone.

I had the WORST experience on Sunday in the ER. I waited over 12 hours. I asked for a blanket twice and never got one. I asked for some ice chips or ginger ale. I was told ok and nothing. I did see other people getting stuff. I will never go there again

It all about the money
This hospital’s favorite words are “ it’s too expensive to order a CT scan” as it isn’t obvious enough that the money is more important our health. Also my gf has been coming since April 2022 and each time has been different symptoms and yet they say it’s an upper respiratory infection each time. You ever watched Grays Anatomy? That’s how it’s supposed to be..ish. Sad to say All hospital are like that.

ZERO STARS
If I could rate 0 stars I would. Literally sat there for the longest time, no one checking on me, no comforting while I’m sitting here in labor. After 24 hours of waiting they decide c section is best. Ok. When I got home I noticed my incision line wasn’t one, it was two! My stomach is butchered and will never be the same. The whole time in the hospital, a lot of the nurses were rude and looked at me like a child because I was a young mother. One even stated I should be living with someone who knows what their doing. One nurse told me I was supposed to be cleared a day early to go home but they kept me another day and wouldn’t take my iv out until they were ready. I stayed an extra day for nothing. Then was told I couldn’t leave early? Bad communication. They decided that the umbilical cord for my child was just fine and that it shouldn’t be cleaned with alcohol because the “natural” way is better. When it fell off, it didn’t look so normal. I suggest sticking to the old methods! They don’t know what they are talking about! Take care of your baby the way you want to. Mothers know what’s best for their babies!! I shouldn’t be treated like a baby when I just birthed a baby. When I have another child this will be the LAST place I go!

They really do not care here
There is no urgency for anything. They don't even call you back like they say they will. And the doctor, throws you off on another doctor because he doesn't want to deal with your issue. I really tried not to think that it was because of color but I am 100% sure it is. Not only was I a patient but my dad was too, a stroke patient which the doctor never really checked on nor helped providing resources for next steps. They really do not care here smh they just want the money. Worst place ever.
