I really hope the hospital administrator reads the reviews
I would give 0 stars if I I had the option. Over 18 hours in pain. Over 12 hours to see the Dr. Shameful and ridiculous. Machine needed to do a "procedure" is at another facility. Is this how a hospital should be run? Is this the norm for this hospital? This is so sad, I know hospitals have to make money. But, wow is all I can say.

Unsafe waits
Staff cuts have left the wards unsafe with waits up to 45 minutes after pushing the call button.

Indignity and Disrespect here
Worst ER ever! Went in for a brown recluse bite, and made me feel like I didn't know what I was talking about. Kept asking me if I'm sure even tho I had a picture of the spider that bit me. The PA was nice but very arrogant. Very quick to leave, didn't seem like he cared. The nurses always have an attitude and rude. Went there also in the past for a kidney stone and the nurse yelled at me to be quiet and said "its just a UTI, those aren't even that bad". Yeah right anyone thats had a kidney stone knows how excruciating that pain is. Do yourself a favor and go to the hamburg Baptist ER, they treat you with dignity and respect. Even prescribed me the right antibiotics to treat a spider bite. Don't waste your time here.

Very discouraged about my post surgery care and hospital stay
Nurses were good, doctors were uncaring and lacked empathy. Hard to know how a doctor evaluates a post op patient without touching the patient and without looking at the incision.

I'll be trying to figure out how to give this place negative stars
My sister is here. Bed has been broken and told it would be replaced for 3 days (still not done) She's here for possible heart attack. They have zero heart monitors on her. No blood pressure cuff. Just saw the first doctor since yesterday at noon. Had to ASK to have her bed sheets changed on the 3rd day. Nurses have her marked as no food after midnight, which was suppose to be changed and wasn't. So no breakfast this morning.

I was mystified as to how long it took to get adequate help
I came into the emergency room in extreme pain. I was following PT instructions after hip replacement. The exercise dislodged the device and slammed it against the nerves of my right leg. After an ambulance ride, I waited in the emergency room at least an hour, shouting for some help. The nursing staff then slowly administered Narcotics. Even with the strongest narcotic I was still in extreme distress. There should’ve been a doctor on call who could have assessed the situation and solicit help to push the device back into place. My surgeon was in Canada, and apparently they needed to communicate with him. I was three hours in pain before an attending arrived, and with an assistant, I was put me to sleep and they pushed the device back into place. I would hope that there would be Qualified physicians on call to deal with the situation more quickly. I feel that the nursing staff Did everything they could without the proper doctors on call. but I was mystified as to how long it took to get proper instructions and then adequate help.

Wasn’t a good experience
Don’t want to cause drama. I feel like Dr Thornhill ignores my needs because his associate was negligent a few years ago cause my heart doctor gave me the go ahead but he refused me service. I will have to proceed with another hospital. Thank you

I wish I didn’t have even have to give a star because they don’t deserve one.
This place was horrible from the doctors to the nurses to the cleanliness everything it was disgusting they were rude. The doctor wouldn’t even stay in the room and explain to me what was going on he was very nasty. This place is horrible. I wouldn’t even take a sick dog there.

dont waste your time or money on this place.
place was horrible, the nurses were rude and hateful, was put in a room that didnt have a phone that worked (so i couldnt be able to call my brother to come get me in case i was discharged) nurses got hateful when i asked to use the phone to just update my brother about what was going on, 2 doctors that werent suppose to be there, ended up showing up telling me they wanted to do things to my body, i strictly told them no, i was there for a specific medical situation and was waiting on the doctor of that situation to show up to talk to me. i wont ever come back to this place ever again. i was grateful that the doctor i seen was understanding of if i didnt want surgery done. i have severe post traumatic stress disorder from a incident that happened to me 2 years ago and i will never go through with surgery ever again after that. find somewhere better where the nurses and doctors will treat you with respect and be considerate of whatever decision you want to do. tip: always have a cellphone with you in case youre put in a room that doesnt have a working phone.

Completely despicable behavior
If my son hadn't been an emergency c- section I would have never have gone to this place. But because I have been there I can tell you I will never go back and would never refer anyone to go there. Not only were they not a Catholic hospital as advertised and their doctor's, nurses, and staff are all very unprofessional. They turned me in to CPS with false claims of drug use that was proven false by CPS.

The weakest, least trusted health care system in our region
Our latest experience was with St. Joseph main hospital, and for starters, it is the ONLY health care provider that failed to seek ANY feedback from us after a recent surgical procedure there. That fact is surprising, disappointing, and alarming. While there were a couple of fine nurses we met during our time at the hospital, others were inept -- or worse. We now see why ratings of the hospital are the poorest in the Lexington area. Even a task as simple as registration was not conducted professionally. Arriving at an appointed time for pre-surgery testing, I sat for an hour and 15 minutes just waiting to be registered by a clerical employee. From what I saw, that wait time appears to be the rule rather than the exception. Many of the problems and serious shortcomings of the hospital could be solved with relatively simple and straight-forward solutions by any skilled, competent manager. For more serious clinical deficiencies, much improved employee screening, selection, and training will be required. This is the second CHI facility with which we have had a bad experience, and we will work to ensure that we do not visit any of their facilities in the future.

They say they gave a patient something when they didn’t!
They take forever to give someone a pain pill after getting a leg cut off. Doctors are great, but most of the nurses are not good.

The care was not good at all very disappointed
I had my husband in the ER who is a brain cancer patient but we were there for other reasons. My husband was in a room for hours and his nurse came in maybe twice and that was because I had to go get him. We ask for ice chips got them about hour later. When I got back to his room there was 3 vials of blood laying on the counter. WoW. I went ask his nurse he said oh I drew extra in case they were needed!! Not professional!!!! We sat in that room for hours with no nurse checking on my husband. I finally had had enough and found a different nurse he then he said all test on my husband were done and that he’s sorry but my husbands nurse went home.

Almost a total failure of care
So a breakdown, 3rd shift is lazy and the pharmacy is delaying care by not delivering treatments when the doctor schedules them. An hour or 2 late= no big deal ,but to completely skip 2 treatments is unacceptable. I had a 5 day stay in St. Joe main from the 29th of February until March 5th and there was a total delay of care because of the pharmacy that just wouldn't deliver my treatments on time. No treatment at 11pm nor the one that was scheduled at 7am. Which totally pushed back my progress and opportunity to be released. The staff called the pharmacy repeatedly and just couldn't get them to deliver. It took 2 days to get my regular daily meds. The pharmacy is completely unorganized and even sent a treatment without the proper size container to mix it in. It's simply math. A delay in care should never happen.

Pathetic
My roommate went to this hospital with severe asthma, she could barely breathe just sitting down, and Dr. Maison Austin dismissed everything that she said and told her there was nothing wrong with her. She was extremely rude and did not care about her patients at all. I don’t know anything about the other doctors there but if you get this one definitely request a different one.

My wife endured a week of torture in this hell hole
My wife endured a week of torture and incompetence in the Neuro ICO of this hell hole before we could get her home. Overmedicated by a revolving clown show of "staff" doctors, she suffered every day in this horrible place. Only when we got her home and back to her own doctors - away from the chemical cocktails St. Joseph hit her with - was she able to return to sanity. Bad enough my wife had a brain tumor, but to have her condition exacerbated by "interventions" of an ever-changing set of "staff experts" is truly horrifying. Surely there are better hospitals in Lexington than this.

Thought I paid for my bill in all when I left
I just moved here three months ago and have no clue where anything is. Anyways. I was driving from work and was having an asthma attack. I have no insurance I was treated like I was having an anxiety attack and spent three hours there until I finally got a breathing treatment. Got tons of unnecessary tests that I now how to pay out of pocket for. So I haven’t had the greatest experience. Thought I paid for my bill in all when I left and now I owe even MORE.

The nurses and doctors don’t take you seriously here
I don’t recommend this hospital. My family member’s conditions were serious, they were taking too long and all they did was make jokes and laugh, having a good time and NOT taking action. These people are not professional and it shows, if you have an emergency don’t go to this hospital!

This place definitely needs to be looked into
IF YOU NEED HELP DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL YOU WILL BE THERE FOR HOURS WITH ABSOLUTELY NO HELP! My aunt has went to this emergency room twice back to back and was treated very poorly. The receptionist lady on 1/10/23 during the dayshift was very unprofessional and was only worried about the 4 security guards that was around her desk. Every time you ask a question they seem inconvenienced. Her first time there the “nurse” in the er was a paramedic from woodford county. He was the most unprofessional and rudest nurse I’ve met. He opened things with his mouth. He would yell out for other nurses and they would joke about patients that are sick and needed help. He and 2 other nurses joked about poking an artery in my aunts arm multiple times! They have hardly no staff and no staff that care or show they care. This place definitely needs to be looked in to because this is not how an emergency room should be ran.

Take your loved ones elsewhere
Last week, my 96 year old Mom sustained a fall and was transported by ambulance to St Joe’s. She was in pain and could not get up by herself. St. Joe’s ER did a CT scan of her ribs, etc. We were told no fractures and she was discharged. My Mom continued to complain of pain. She was sent to another hospital where multiple fractures of the ribs were identified. She is now hospitalized.

Horrible experience and incompetent staff
My son went in with a severely broken arm and in extreme pain. They didn’t reset the bone and just wrapped some gauze around the break and told him to see an orthopedist the next day. The doctor spent about 30 seconds with him and said he was fine to go home. Unacceptable and shameful. I’ve received better care in third world countries. I would rank them with 0 stars if the computer would let me.

Worst experience ever
I had the worst experience that I've ever had at any hospital. I went to Dr. Elayi's office (Saint Joseph Office Park across from hospital), on Tuesday May 31, to set up appointment for pacemaker replacement surgery and they set it up for Monday June 6th. I found out on this day that my battery was dead. So I started having a lot of chest pains and shortness of breath the next evening so they told me to come in on Thursday June 2 to check me . I get there on Thursday and I'm having every sign of a heart attack except for the vomiting. They adjusted my pacemaker up and Dr. Elayi came in and rudely said " there is nothing I can do til Monday cause my schedule is full. So I walked myself over to the emergency room they hooked me to an EKG and monitors and ran all kinds of test and kept me all day. They gave me morphine and said that I was having these problems cause my pacemaker was dead. They sent me home and I suffered all weekend with chest pains shortness of breath and blood pressure going up and down. Monday I showed up for my surgery at 11:30 am took me to room at 12:50 pm checked me and left me in room til surgery. They never even checked on me didn't monitor me by the machines nothing. Finally at 6:00 pm Dr. Elayi came in and rudely said, " I apologize but my emergency paitents have to come first we could reschedule." Mind you I hadn't had anything to eat or drink since 11:30 pm the night before and I had already layed all day suffering with chest pains shortness of breath and nothing to eat or drink. Reschedule? I told him no we are gonna do this today. Dr. Elayi threw his hands up in air, huffed, rolled his eyes and said, " well I guess I'll stay as late as I need to to get it done." Worst experience ever wouldn't advise anyone to go to this hospital. I'll never go there again.

Terrible place
This hospital is supposed to be a religious non-profit but they are unchristian in their behavior. Got the run around here trying to schedule a test. Decided to do the test at UK instead. Terrible place calling itself Catholic.

Dirty
Hospital is dirty and so are most of the staff. It's disgusting. The other hospitals would not hire them. They are unprofessional, rude, and have no class from top to bottom. I highly recommend visiting one of the other hospitals in the area. UK Hospital and Central Baptist are much, much better.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!
I am extremely furious at this point!! This hospital did open heart surgery on my Mom on Monday, January 4th. They have lost all her personal belongings including her purse, wallet, blank checks, credit cards, medicare and medicaid cards, glasses, clothes, shoes and cell phone. We are still trying to get answers and no one seems to know anything!? I also just received a call saying they let her slide out of a chair and hit the floor. This after only being one week since having her chest broken open for heart valve replacement and bypass surgery!!!!!!!!!
