I had surgery in that horrible place it was a nightmare
From the time I had pre testing the person that had to register me didn’t do the right thing and mess up the paper work the nurses where more worried about going for lunch the anesthesiologist that did the nerve block took a long time to get to me and when she did she was rough and show no compassion what so ever the assistant to the anesthesiologist a block of ice was more human who ever put the tube in my throat was an animal I can’t eat or drink they tore out a piece of the skin in my throat now I can’t eat or drink the only person that took good care of me with dignity and respect was my doctor was my doctor the rest of the people was a disgrace an embarrassment people that don’t deserve to be in that field but God and karma will take care of it and this will not be forgotten I will never go back to that hospital and will tell everyone I know my experience so they can tell others so people don’t trust their life or family to those monsters.

Took them 3 days to give her all her reg meds
Took my parent here for care..we interacted with 3 triage nurses..none asked for her medicine list. They violated HIPPA calling her full name out in the ER. They didnt tell anyone she was on a blood thinner and missed her dosage for 24 hours. Then only when I raised concerns to the charge nurse something was done once we were admitted it took them 3 days to give her all her meds. I used to Love this place.

I would never recommend this facility to ANYONE
Horrible, demeaning, disrespectful, abusive, condescending and just outright outrageous weird & unprofessional behavior exhibited by the recovery Charge Nurse Candice on floor 6A at the Marcus Tower....then once moved to floor 8 one of the male Nurse marked that he gave oxytocin to my mom when he only gave her Tylenol post op day 3 of open heart surgery...he told us that they only wanted her to take Tylenol to get her off the narcotics..MEANWHILE HE MARKED IN THE SYSTEM that he gave it to her WHICH IS ABUSE AND SHOULD BE GROUNDS FOR TERMINATION...keeping narcotics from an elderly open heart surgery patient (post op day 3 is CRUEL).reporting all of this to the state nursing board.

They don’t do their jobs correctly
I would never recommend this hospital at all to anyone. They have poor service and all nurses are rude and staff. I’m so disappointed on how my mother stay has been. They turn off call lights of just walking in the room with no help given. And the fact that they told my mother to use the bathroom on her self instead of assisting her to the bathroom. Filing a complaint doesn’t work because they don’t address the issues. Please do not seek care at this facility…

Please please dont go to this hospital alone
I had to go to Piedmont bc the surgeon I chose has privileges there. My doctors, therapists (PT, OT) etc. were excellent! The post-op nurses on the other hand were lackluster at best. After recovery, I was placed in my room for 2+ hours after surgery without being hooked up to IV or monitors. My husband, annoyed, pointed this out and the nurse said "oh, oooops" and hooked me up, finally. Please please dont go to this hospital alone if you are incapacitated. Make sure some is there to advocate for you. The daytime nursing staff is cold, non- responsive, rushed, and seemed understaffed. After I returned home, no one from the hospital followed-up to check on me.

My prayer is that no family ever has to experience what our family had to endure
My husband was taken to Piedmont Atlanta from Piedmont Newnan due to a pulmonary embolism and blood clots in lungs. Not going into all the details of lack of care and untruths. The biggest reason for this very negative rating is how we were treated as a family and how he was treated as a patient . I wish I could say that on December 21,2024 he passed away peacefully… but due to the fact that palliative care or hospice was not brought in he passed away struggling for his last breath… sweating because he couldn’t breath. with absolutely no help from the doctor!

Piedmont Hospital Atlanta penalize low income Medicare patients
Piedmont Hospital Atlanta is the only medical facility I know that penalize low income Medicare patients who are responsible enough to pay their $185 a month to keep their health Insurance. When I applied for financial assistance I was told I didn't qualify because patients who have medical insurance are put on a different scale at only 125% of the Federal Poverty Scale while irresponsible patients who do not pay their $185 a month for Medicare health insurance are rewarded by being in a 300% of the FPL scale and they thus qualify to have their total bills excused. Seems to me that too many in our country are being rewarded for not working and paying into Social Security nor paying taxes yet they continue to be rewarded while the hardworking responsible people are penalized. To my knowledge Piedmont is the only hospital with this upside down patient assistant program.

The billing for what they did to “help” me is absurd.
I laid in the hallway for my visit and was only given Tylenol for the pain.. 1 bag of fluids was all I received. I was visibly shaking with abdominal and chest pain and was just discharged with internal bleeding. The next day I had to have an emergency surgery at another hospital in another state… they said I was lucky to have went in when I did. The bill for the surgery at the other hospital was less than half of what Piedmont had billed me. Their payment plans are worthless for a college student barely getting by in this economy. Please don’t go here, it could literally cost you your life… I am lucky to be alive.

The disrespect and lack of care is atrocious
I am absolutely disgusted and appalled by the treatment my family received at this facility. Patient care is not a priority, uninformed doctors and nurses, and extreme absence of communication. We will make drastic efforts to never be transferred here again. I truly wish I could leave 0 stars.

They do not care about their patients!!
Worst experience ever!! I sat & waited 2 hours for a pregnancy test, after telling I don’t know how many nurses about my symptoms & I was getting ignored!! The doctors were giving very nonchalant & not caring. There were no rooms available so, they had me sitting in the hallway for 2 hours!!! No diagnosis given or anything. They did not care to actually see what was wrong with me!! I refuse to be treated as if I don’t know what I’m talking about, especially when it pertains to my body!! I know what’s normal & what’s not. If you ever have to come to this hospital, I suggest otherwise!!

The racism I received has left me without words
I have not visited this faculty on purpose in years. This faculty definitely needs some teaching and training on how treat all people. It’s disrespectful, distasteful and downright disgusting to mishandle anyone during a time help is needed most. To hear the ER doctor say “she can’t touch me” blew my mind. I have no doubt it is the color of skin. You never know who you are addressing and if she knew I’m sure her response wouldn’t be what it was. I can gladly say that I will never use this facility again and while I have liked it in the past it has fallen into a very unpleasant place.

Terrible price gouging
$253 just because I asked for a lab test which they NEVER completed or given me test results for ! Very disorganized and snakes for profit not your health . Use GOOGLE to find questions otherwise prepare for a surprise $253 cost to answer basic questions and that’s during my annual I’ve never been charged for simple questions during my annual visit ! Will be in market for new healthcare provider : Update they respond on here but don’t get back to you right away . I will just file a dispute with my insurance company. Them replying on here is just a ruse to make it seem like they are helping

18 months later I’m supposed to pay $3,615 because they didn’t code properly?
AVOID PIEDMONT AT ALL COSTS! Piedmont delivered my daughter in February of 2022 and didn’t bill us until over 18 months later. They only had my wife’s insurance and we had proactively selected a very expensive plan as soon as we found out my wife was pregnant. This was because we knew this plan was a low deductible plan and we would hit the deductible with obgyn appts. We only paid $750 for my wife’s services rendered but they think I’m supposed to pay $3,615 now because they didn’t code my daughter’s delivery properly with Aetna. My wife lost her job last year so for my son’s delivery in August of 2023 we had to use my insurance. That’s what triggered this and they somehow think it’s okay to bill my insurance when neither my wife nor daughter were my dependents at the date of service. I have told them what’s going on and provided them the appropriate insurance to bill and they are now reporting us to collections. I am one of the few people that they should work with because even 2 years late, I’m willing to pay my debts. I WILL NOT pay 5 times the amount we are entitled to pay because they didn’t code things properly with insurance…they had my wife’s info and 2 years to code things properly with Aetna. To anyone reading this from Piedmont, my next step is filing a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner. Let’s see how John King feels about you taking advantage of a young family who is already being squeezed in this economy.

Worst care my grandmother has ever received
My grandmother was transferred from another hospital here to receive care but from the start out experience was horrible. The day shift nurse barely came in the room to keep up updated with her plan of care and was very dismissive. When she was in the room it seemed like she was in a hurry to leave. Her tech only came in to do vitals and the only thing we asked her for was a cup of water and it only arrived after I talked to the charge nurse about my grandmas care. Then, when she did finally bring the water she lied right in front of us saying we never asked her for it. The room was a mess, there was mold in the shower, and the floor was filthy. The only people who were sweet enough to take their time were her night nurse and the iv therapy nurse. I would not ever recommend coming here unless you want to sit in pain for hours on end.

10 hours in the emergency room waiting
Terrible service!!!! my friend was hurt, and went to the hospital around 9:30 we spent the next 10 hours in the emergency room waiting for her to get treated. Once they got to her, she was told it wasn’t serious and can go home at 7 IN THE MORNING!!! If you EVER have an emergency incident, NEVER go to Piedmont Hospital!!!

Healthcare sucks in Atlanta
Zero stars. No one cares about patient outcome anymore. Just do your job. Can’t complain as no one calls you back. Charged 2 times for anesthesia seems like a scam to me. Too big to complain. No one cares.

Sue this hospital if your loved one died like mine did here
I will expose this hospital. My family member died here due to them not following protocols. When my family member was sent here, I was not happy with the negative experiences I had with some of the nurses here. Night shift is the worst. I read all the bad reviews and I feared for my family that was in the ICU. Now they are dead, gone. No more. I will be seeking a lawsuit. I advise others to sue this hospital, esp., if your loved one died like mine did. They have interns working without supervision. So many of the nurses do not follow protocols and your loved ones will die here. I will sue the Dr., staff and hospital. My family member’s death will. Not be in vain.

On the phone laughing away as my dad struggled to breath and later died
Don’t bring your loved ones here unless you’re ready to say goodbye, because this hospital will kill them, and there’s nothing you can do about it. My dad died here, he even had CNAs sitting in the room with him on the ICU hall “to keep him safe” I walked into his CNA on her phone talking to someone laughing and having a great time, but when I walked in I immediately realized he was breathing heavy and unresponsive, and thats the same day he ended up on a ventilator but those medical assistant CNAs were there to keep him “safe” how come she was on her phone laughing away as he struggled to breath and critical care had to rush down and take him!! He eventually started getting better after being put in the critical care unit, the doctors kept telling me he was fine and he would go to a regular room soon after a few days, well he ended up on the ventilator again due to aspiration and dying because the nurses in the critical care unit are incompetent. The doctors all told me a different story every time I talked to them each day, it was like I was talking about a different patient each day, and not my dad, it never made sense, and I was always told he was getting better. He didn’t HE DIED.

Thank you so much for the nightmares
I went to the ER during a mental health episode and they treated me as if I was invalid. Did not communicate my treatment with me and made decisions without my consent. Including forcibly giving me medication I coherently refused. More than once. Apparently if you’re 1013d this hospital will just do whatever is the bare minimum because “they don’t treat psych patients” but they will traumatized them and charge them an exorbitant amount for it. Just because we have mental health issues doesn’t mean that all of us can’t coherently address them with professionals. And by your actions, you are proving that we are a burden and don’t deserve the same level of care as someone with a physical injury. Thank you so much for the nightmares I have due to the way your staff treated me.

10 hours in the for for a ct scan & ultra sound ridiculous
I arrived at 9:30, it took 1 hour to get called back. I came in for a UTI, immediately upon being brought to the back I got my blood taken & gave a urine sample. After that I was left in a room from 11am-3pm until they started doing anything. I had to constantly keep calling the nurse, no food, medication, water nothing for 4 hours I just sat in pain. So much pain my blood pressure went through the roof. Everyone was nice but it was so slow. After I finally got a ct scan they still took hours to get me out the only time they update you is when you call them in the room if you don’t constantly call them you will get forgotten about I was not discharged until 7:30 pm that’s almost 10 hours in the for for a ct scan & ultra sound ridiculous

This was my first and last time coming or going to this hospital
The location give one the impression that one would get quality care but nothing could be farther from truth. My PCP and surgeon are affiliated with this establishment and because he started some test I went for medical emergency thinking it would be seamless, again I was wrong. First walking in to register that disgruntled attendant make it seems like I was bothering her, went she finally found my information I was given a telephone number to call to complete registration ( this was a first for me but okay). Triage second you have to do their job and tell them your hole history. They will not read. Spend 2 days in ER because they had no beds available only to transferred to a unit where again the nurses don’t read and even after telling her the procedure was scheduled for the morning to stop medication she insisted I was wrong but guess what I wasn’t. The doctor without knowing anything about me Dr. Holly tells me why I have belly fat and what not to eat and how to exercise. For a minute I thought I was signing up for a gym membership. The day of my ERCP procedure went in fine came out with a busted lips, doctor no where to be found to explain to me what happened all the nurses and other doctors kept telling me is that I bit my top lip or have an allergic reaction to what I don’t know because only thing I got was anesthesia to put me to sleep. Discharged by another doctor and that will be it for me and piedmont hospital.

The hallway is not a private area and I’m sure it violates HIPAA
I came to this hospital because of sever stomach pains and body tissue discharging through my urine. The charge nurse decided my issue wasn’t “bad” enough to be seen before the white ppl that came in 30-40 mins after me. I complained about pains that I was having while waiting and asked for medicine and was told I can take Tylenol which does NOTHING for anyone. Hours later, I was brought to the back for a “room” but was placed in the hall way on a bed with no privacy and no concern for my comfort while trying to get help. This isn’t Grady hospital. If I wanted to lay in the hallway and tell the world my business, I would have gone to Grady where they are known for their horrible service. The hallway is not a private area and I’m sure it violates HIPAA. The person who escorts individuals back to their “room” told me rooms are for people who are having cardiac problems only. In what policy does it state I have to sit in the hall if I’m not having chest issues?

My brother may be still alive if
I wouldn't recommend this hospital for humans or animals. My brother was in this hospital twice end of Nov 2022 to Dec 9th, 2022, and again from December 27th, 2022 to Jan 8th, 2023, the day he died. I feel the doctors dragged their feet in treating him. The first time was for pneumonia and heart AF. My brother got out and was doing ok except his' feet were swelling. After Christmas, a visiting nurse saw his legs to get to the ER. She felt he was in heart failure. Needless he was admitted. seem like his' legs holding fluid and looking into heart failure, they were back on the lung condition and not treating both. I wrote a letter to the CEO Kevin Brown and have asked for a response. I have even called and left several voice messages, with no response. I now have emailed him for a response. I am also writing this review. I feel more understanding toward patients and families. I was even dismissed by the charge nurse to keep an extra eye on him in the step-down heart and lung unit. I ended up the rising cane to the doctor the next morning, then I started seeing cardiology Drs. coming in to check him, and getting a plan after week and a half later. He ended up back in ICU where he never should have been moved. Sorry, this review is so long but I wanted people to know to stay on top of the employees even when you don't want to feel pushy. I feel like I should have been pushy 2 days after he was admitted he may be still alive but I was letting them take care of him without questioning some things not being done. This hospital is just caring well for the bottom line of Money.

STAY AWAY
Their billing department is the WORST you’ll deal with in the health industry. It all starts with them NOT FILING THE CLAIM CORRECTLY. As a result, your insurance company will DENY the claim. I’ve given them my correct mailing address many times. They continue mailing bills to the WRONG ADDRESS. Because it’s mailed to the wrong address, it doesn’t get noticed/paid. So, then they’ll turn you over to collections. Please please please listen to me.

DO NOT HAVE YOUR BABY AT PIEDMONT ATLANTA
WARNING: Upon expressing our complaints formally, we received a letter more or less stating that we are lying and conversations we had with staff did not happen. Completely unacceptable and dismissive. WHAT HAPPENED: My wife and I had our baby girl at Piedmont Atlanta hospital and we had a horrible experience. The nurse was unprofessional and lazy, and did not listen to my wife at all. After talking with MULTIPLE staff members about the labor nurse, they all agreed and wondered why she was still around. My wife expressed her concerns with her epidural multiple times but was dismissed every time, as if she doesn't know her own body. I understand they are professionals but my wife was in distress and was not listened to. The staff at the nursery, however, was very kind and we appreciated our time with them. Unfortunately, the labor experience was very traumatic and I cannot in good conscious recommend Piedmont Atlanta to anyone.

Zero stars
The room my son was not kept clean. The room and bathroom were never cleaned. Eight days. I took pictures of feces and urine in his bathroom. When I had to demand better care security was called on me. And it took over an hour and a half at point to receive his pain meds. Excuses were short staff and staff was on break.

Disappointing
My husband had a procedure scheduled, we were not warned about not bringing any children to the hospital ahead of time. Unfortunately, I had to wait outside and walked around in the street with a little toddler. We attempted to call guest relation and management (Chris Jones),and could not even get an accommodation to allow us to wait in the waiting room, not even in the cafeteria. It was frustrating not being able to support my husband at the time. I can understand it can be a risk to have kids present at the hospital, and worse is we had no one around the area to call for support nor to look out after our son while I go in with him. At least we could have made prior arrangements to have tour son be monitored by someone else. Can you imagine someone had an accident on the road and had their kids with them, they would have not allowed the partner and child to be present at the hospital setting. They should think of opening a waiting area for people with families/ kids who travel far or have medical emergency to be able to sit and wait while their love ones are having certain procedures. This was so frustrating and difficult experience to maneuver around the area with a toddler.

Billing Issue
We received a bill 10 months after surgery there - and it was way over our co-pay by $3,000! We have been trying to get an explanation and resubmit to our insurance for months with no help. On hold forever and when they answer, they hang up.
